Would you forgive...

Original post by aliwnec10

your sister if she said that she isn't coming to the RD, nor is she staying for your reception?

Her excuse... she has a 7 & 8 year old daughters (my nieces) who will be tired and it will be too much for them. And getting a babysitter... well the babysitter wouldn't be able to handle them. So after the ceremony, her, my BIL and my 2 nieces are going home.

I can't believe she's doing this to me. Well to some extent i can because this is who she is. Well after this wedding... we are done as sisters.

(Sorry... i needed to vent)

You know my opinion!!!!! I'm still planning on taking her out when I see her!!

Oh, maybe I shouldn't say that incase she's lurking again!!

cant' she drop off the kids with her IL's? my sister was in the same predicament but she NEVER would've missed my reception! her IL's live upstate in Saugerties and she drove the boys there the night before the wedding and picked them up the day after the wedding.

she missed my RD but i could understand that since she lives in MA. tell your sister that this hurts your feelings! sorry this is happening to you...

I would find it hard to forgive her too. My brother at this point might not even come to my wedding, so yeah I'd be pissed and understand about the not wanting to talk to her for a while.

So guess what... she has been lurking on here after she promised me that she would never do it again.

I'm so sorry for you. I don't think I would be able to forgive my sister if it was an ongoing thing, like it sounds. I know people who are like that to other family members though, and most of the time it seems to be jealousy related. Maybe she is jealous of your happiness.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, and I know it sounds hard...but try not to tjink about it. If she is not gonna stop being selfish, don't let it ruin what should be the happiest day of your life.

I don't have a sister but I'd be furious.

I mean I can understand if she doesn't want to stay throughout the ENTIRE reception but not staying for dinner, toasts, cake cutting is absolutely unacceptable.
