I have, who i thought was a very good friend tell me that she cannot come to the wedding b/c it's her 30th bday and she may or may not have plans to celebrate it with people... I was a bit perturbed, but i guess people's true colors come out.

Some people are just self-absorbed. Write it (and her) off.

I don't understand why she can't celebrate the next night or the night before.

She does not even have definite plans but cannot attend the wedding because of what MAY be planned for her birthday That sounds very strange Are you sure she is not just trying to throw you off for some reason - like to surprise you and show up Is she from OOT
I would be really hurt if a close friend told me that she could not attend my wedding because it's her birthday. We purposely did not pick anyone's birthday as our date but if we had, I'd expect a close friend to still show up. I might even get a cake for a close friend to have served at the wedding.

If she was a REAL friend she would want to celebrate your day with you regardless.

That is beyond rude! I am having my wedding on my sisters bday - I asked her first to make sure if it was ok (not like she had a choice)

Re: would you guys be pissed?
I'd be totally PO'd!!!!!!!!! She knew when her birthday was and she also knows when your wedding was. And she waits to tell you now?!?!?! Anger!!!!!
I had pre-cana on my 30th. I didn't miss anything by not going out. And for my FH's 30th we had my brother wedding and had to postpone his festivities one week.

Honestly, don't even invite her!!!!! If one of my friends said that to me, I think I would realize we really aren't freinds.

I would be upset. At some point you always tend to see what friends are all about. Good or Bad.
