Would you rule a vendor out for this...

Original post by agentangel

I'm so overwhelmed by my make-up vendor search. To add to my disappointment, I had a weird experience with one of the vendors that I'm most excited about. Sent her an are you available email and she wrote back explaining her services and ended one sentence with...and s**t like that.

Very casual reponse to say the least. She's a vendor that's raved about here (not to mention one of the cheapest on my list) but that really just turned me off from her. Rule her out and give her a chance?

Who does that? I might rule the vendor out for this, not because I'm uptight, but just because I find it to be a very flakey thing to do. Totally unprofessional.

I agree

I had this happen too and I ruled that vendor out. It was a florist and I had told them I will see. I was thinking about booking someone else and told them so, and they cursed the other vendor out on the phone to me. I knew then I made the right choice and booked the other vendor. I think professionalism should count for something.

I dont think that I would rule someone out just for how they worded a sentence. Maybe that particular person is having an off day.

If the quality of the work and the price are good...and the vendor is reliable...I would stick with them...we all make grammer slip ups now and again.

why would someone trying to get you to book them - even think about talking like that....

i would say go for a trial but that is VERY strange and unprofessional

That's a hard one. I probabaly would give her a chance, but i would also set boundaries to let her know that this is a professional relationship, and she needs to be more professional.

What I want to know is did she say s**t or did she spell out the whole word. If she used the *s then I would let it slide, if she spelt it, I would cancel!!

Say sorry but s**t happens if she asks you why!!!

I agree. Maybe she was rushed, or having just a bad bad day. It happens, to all of us!

If she has good recommendations and people have said great things about her, I'd let it go.

Absolutely! She doesn't even know you and she's trying to generate business that way

What kind of way is that to answer an email? I don't care what kind of day you are having, you don't put that kind of language into a letter to a potential customer.
That is totally unprofesssional, and I would not use her. If she is unprofessional now, imagine how unprofessional she might be the day of your wedding!

No way...not a chance. In my book, she blew it. I would be fired for using language like that especially in writing..there are too many vendors out there to deal with unprofessionalism like that.

BTW-If you don't use her, I would tell her why..

Every other word out of my mouth is a curse word, but not when I am trying to get someones business thats for sure. I would rule her out! She needs to learn that you dont generate business that way!!!!

IMO its definately unprofessional, but if I really liked her work and wanted her to do my makeup badly enough Id still book a trial at least and then go from there.

What was the context? That is just very odd, especially in responding to an email asking if you are free a certain date.

Re: Would you rule a vendor out for this...

I think I know who this vendor is - I exchanged emails with a makeup person who everyone here loves - and I told her that I was excited to meet her and she replied by email by stating'I can't wait to meet you too MAMMA' -

I was like ***? -

I am actually thinking about it - seriously thinking about it - I have this thing with people in business and the way they talk - i strongly believe that the way you speak is instrumental to who you are as a person and how people see you - and although many people think that they don't care what others think about them - it is important to be realistic about it - if you speak like a street thug during an interview for a high position that pays well and happens to be your dream job - the chances of you getting it are slim - even if you are a smart person - if you talk like a thug you will not seem as smart as you are and first impressions are the only ones that matter after that you are classified and filed away - you are what you do - you are who your friends are - you are what you eat - and you are how you speak -

until she replied to me in such a way I saw her as professional and felt lucky that she gave me the time of day considering her schedule - but as soon as she replied the way she did - my image of her changed - now she was a girl that seemed to comfortable and may show up late or not do a great job - or mayeb I am paying too much -

Amen
