Here's my story - my dress was very, very, very expensive and now that my wedding is over, my mom asked me if I wanted to sell it. At first I said 'NOOOOO' but the more I think about it, the more sense it makes to sell it. I'm never wearing it again, it's taking up room in my parent's closet and I'm not going to keep it to give to my daughter etc... what do you think?
Would you sell it? Have you sold it?

Re: Would you sell your wedding dress?
No-Im wearing my grandmothers dress- and even though she has passed away, its not mine to sell. But if I had a brand new one, I may consider it- but I think it would still be hard for me.

i don't think i could ever sell my wedding dress. but i'm also the type of person who won't let go of her first bra.
Jess you crack me up!!!! When I grew out of my first bra, I gave it to my mom cause she was that size and I left her in the dust!!!

Well to me it would depend on who I was selling it to? Will you sell for what you paid? Will you sell to someone you know? I think I might wait... Your dress was smoking by the way =).
Thanks, chica. I would probably sell it to a store and have them sell it to the general public. I'd probably get really pissed off if I saw someone wearing it though :) Well I'd even sell it for 1/2 of what I paid for it and I'd be really happy!
omg, how expensive was your dress that you would be happy with half? j/k anyhow, dont sell it. we all know our daughters are prob. not going to wear it but i'd like to have the opportunity to show it to my daughter. or even if i didnt have a daughter, i know i'd want to open the box 15-20 years from now and gaze at it.
at this point the money is already spent and more money will find its way to you from some other source... dont put a price tag on your wedding gown b.c it is priceless.
Let's just say it's up there in price Thanks for your input

Im going to sell my dress and if i cant then ill just keep it in my closet for the rest of my life i guess. I absolutely loved my dress but like Ev you said it...you can take that money and put it towards a vacation or something else.
Exactly, I say sell it if you can. Why hold on to it, if I can sell my gown I would in a heart beat. It cost so much money even Half would be excellent.

Re: Would you sell your wedding dress?
I am so indecisive about this, granted I will never wear it again. But my MIL made a garter and bag out of her dress for me...and it is something I still have and will probably for the rest of my life. She did the same thing for her daughters wedding.
I havent decided on what I am going to do, though i am considering it

Re: Would you sell your wedding dress?
I won't sell mine. I am going to preserve it and have it in my closet forever. And if I have a daughter she could have it if she wants but I am sure wedding dresses will be much different by then.

As much as it will take up space... I don't think I could sell it. You'll never get what you paid for it.. and then why should it sit in someone else's closet forever? I'd hold onto it.. unless you are really in need of the money.

I'm planning on selling mine! I don't have ANY reason to keep it.....we're not having children, so it won't be a christening gown or a wedding dress for a daughter. Can't think of any other reason to keep it........
SO BYE BYE it goes!

Re: Would you sell your wedding dress?
I was thinking about donating it to Good Will figuring why not give someone less fortunate an opportunity to wear a beautiful, designer gown on her wedding day?
Vinny really didn't like that idea though- he is sentimental and wants to hold onto it.
Recently, my Mom told me about how people are preserving them and saving them for Christening dresses, Communion and even Confirmation dresses-- for our daughter(s).
So, because Vin really wants to keep it and since now we found something USEFUL for the dress-- I will keep it, preserve it and have pieces of it made into the dresses listed above for my girl(s).

Re: Would you sell your wedding dress?
My dress was expensive but not to the point where getting half back would make a difference to my financial situation so I think I am going to just save it. I really did love my dress. My mom is convinced that my future daughter will want to wear it. LOL!
If it was going to make a difference and help us if we needed a financial boost then I would sell it.

Re: Would you sell your wedding dress?
Well....mine is still sitting in a garbage bag in my bedroom. I guess it depends on how much I could get for it. After all.....you'll NEVER wear it again, and its sort of crazy to think that your daughter would wear it. Styles will be different then, and she may have different tastes....and you may have boys. Your dress is HOT....I bet you could get some good $$$$ for it. This is sooo personal...it depends on how sentimental you are. What I will say is that you have PICTURES....and that is what counts more than the physical dress that will just take up a lot of space.
