Would you sing at your wedding?

Would you sing at your wedding?

Okay up until this point I had refused to sing at the wedding although everyone (family and MOH) keeps on telling me that I should- I just thought it would be hard and that I probably would be too emotional to get through the song. Anyway yesterday it dawned on me that maybe I should (after listening to Alicia Keys- If I Ain't Got You on the LIRR) I am really considering it (especially because FH has mentioned it- not really asked- a few times). If I did, I would do it at the reception- but I don't know at what point, but so that it would be a total suprise to FH- everyone else.

Do you think I should do it? At what point at the reception. Has anyone ever seen this (I've seen it at the wedding on TLC's wedding story a few times).

Thanks

I think it would be great. Dedicate a song to your FH. I would sing just as everyone is sitting down to dinner.

I can't sing very well, so I wouldn't. But, it I could, I would!

If I was drunk enough I might!!

But, I think if at your wedding, you want to get up there and do your thang- go for it.. Do it cause you want to, not cause people expect you to.

i have to say YES YES YES! I would suggest doing at the reception though.. heres why..

My cousins now wife, at the church - she surprised everyone and sang during the ceremony. I have to tell you i was crying my eyes out. i dont know how in the world she got through it. you could tell it was really hard for her, but she did a great job.

I wouldn't even think about doing it at the ceremony- I know I wouldn't be able to get through it and he probably wouldn't either

I am really considering it now... Thanks all!

I don't think I would, even if I could sing but that's because I know I wouldn't be able to get through it... but I think it would be a beautiful personal touch to your wedding... I say go for it!

Personally, I have seen this done, and it can be awkward for those who are around. JMHO. But do what is in your heart.

I say go for it! I'm actually going to be singing too. I know that my FH is going to love it!

Re: Would you sing at your wedding?

I've seen it at 2 weddings. One, the bride sang 'A Moment Like This' to the groom during the reception. It was a surprise to him (and us!) and he loved it.

The other wedding the groom sang 'Just the Way You Are' by Billy Joel, also during the reception. I think that the bride knew ahead of time. He was a theatre major, so he's a pretty good singer.

It was nice both times.

It's funny, we have a tight group of friends, and after both of these weddings, everyone kept asking me what I was going to sing at our wedding. I told them that there's NO way I'm singing. I told them that I would hula dance instead....

Definitely do it! My DH totally surprised me at our wedding my singing 'She's Got A Way' by Billy Joel. It was the most romantic moment, and all of our guests loved it!

My DH sang our song at our reception. I knew he was going to --- in fact I told him he was going to..... but most of our guest including family didn't know he was going to. HE HAS AN AWESOME VOICE!!!!
Everyone started yelling ENCORE so he did another song that was his choosing......Led Zeppelin.....UGH!

He sings in show & does karaoke frequently. He sang Amazed by Lonestar which otherwise would have been our first dance song.

For the safety of all present I should not sing. But if you have a nice voice, it would be lovely. We are debating having a friend sing our first dance song.
