I recently went to a wedding for a couple who are very close to FH and I. I know that they paid an insane amount of money per person but I got food poisoning from it and was sick for a week. I know when I see her after she gets back from her honeymoon she is going to ask me if I enjoyed the reception and the food. Should I tell her the truth that I got really sick or just smile and say that everything was wonderful?

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
i wouldn't say anything, let her enjoy the fact that she had a great wedding day and that all of her guests had a good time.
i went to a wedding recently where the sanitary conditions were horrible (they left the food out before the ceremony and reception even started) and the service was awful, my FH mentioned something to the groom and he just shrugged it off so sometimes it wont make a difference lol..
sorry you got food poisoining!

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
I would also not tell them, I went to a wedding with terrible food once and when the bride asked me what I thought, I just said everything was great because I didn't want to hurt her feelings. She will be really upset if she hears they you got sick. And there is not much she can do about it now so I'd leave it be.

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
You wanna be the one to ruin her wedding?
You REALLY feel that is is SO necessary to tell her this, when she is in her newlywedded bliss...to now make her feel bad and think her wedding made people sick?
Keep it to yourself.

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
My BFF got married on Saturday... I didn't think her RH was all that. When she gets back from her honeymoon, I am going to ask her how she thought everything went... what she wasn't happy with... etc. If she was overly thrilled, I will keep my comments to myself. If she had some bad comments, I would tell her a little how I felt. Definitely gauge to see if YOUR friend will be offended by what you say. I am a very honest person and I like my opinions to be heard. Also, she is used to me saying obnoxious things to her.. she kind of relies on me for that.

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
NEGATIVE
do not tell
there is nothing she can do about it - its only going to upset her and why would you want to ruin the perfect vision she has of her wedding day?
eta: besides, you can never really be 100% sure of where you got food poisoning from - unless everyone who ate at the party got sick and they call ate the same thing then it could have been from something you ate the day before, earlier that day, or the day after....

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
at first i thought , yes to tell her but then i just thought to myself that if someone told me that, i would feel like my whole wedding was rouined and its the memory i would never ever be able to get out of my head. i would be depressed over thinking about all the people who were sitting there thinking that the food was horrible or even worse, they got sick afterwards. it really scks but in the end, i think its much better that she doesnt know

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
don't say anything, you will forever taint her memory of her wedding day
and even more so it sounds like you aren't 100% sure... did anyone else get sick? You could have gotten a mild stomach bug or something....
so no, don't say anything. It won't accomplish anything and just make her feel terrible.

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
I don't see what it would accomplish to tell her. Did you go to the wedding with FH? You said only you got food poisoning, not FH. Like someone else said, unless that was the ONLY food you ate that day then you can't say for sure it was the food at the wedding.
She had a great day, don't ruin it for her.

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
I'm a blunt person and like to tell it how it is. But not at the cost of hurting someone's feelings. If telling her that you got food poisoning possibly from the wedding is going to upset her, why bother unless you want to be hurtful?? I'd say keep it to yourself.

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
I am the most blunt person, ever. I would NEVER tell anyone I got sick at their function.... even if I was SURE it was 'their' food that did it.
It just makes them feel bad, and ruins their otherwise happy day. Is it that important to you?

Re: Would You Tell The Bride?
Know what though? You know your friend and we don't. Think about what type of person she is and if you think she wants to hear it. If she's oversensitive, don't tell her. If she's blunt, let her know. At my Sweet Sixteen one of the girls got a piece of bad broccoli and wasn't going to tell me (of course) and I heard her in the bathroom talking about it and she tried to reassure me that she was ok but I felt bad. I told my grandmother who went through the tray at the hall in the kitchen and yanked every piece of broccoli and I never heard another word about it.
When I think of my BMs and their personalities, my MOH is like me, we're straight forward we don't hold back. One of my BM's is a little more sensitive and I could never imagine telling her, so you probably know best what to do.
