Wow that is rude. But ive heard this from FH when he was ring shopping its like a competition on who knows what and the price well thats another story
well i know Sh*T, i know obviously cut of a ring and carats but color and clarity i dont know, ppl start telling me and im just like hmmm ok, i mean i guess i can learn these things but i just dont
Yeah when he asked what i liked all i said was...I like the princes or the emerald cut...then he asked about the clarity I was like huh CLEAR...then he said you you are too expensive I had no clue what he meant. I really don't care. But people do get nosy and ask about cost and carats ...I think this just needs to be ignore like the guy did ..with dead silence or acting like he was deaf..How many carat?? huh..lol
THE GUY ended up answering but at first he was shocked and kept repeating the question lol

It's funny you say this because FH warned me that guys are just like girls. He said to be careful of the jealous people that will ask about your ring just to find out information that will make them feel accomplished or something. I said to him, 'People won't ask the carat size or clarity etc..., especially not guys' he was like, 'Ohhh yes they do.' Sure enough, that SAME night, we were out and a friend asked him, 'So, what cut/carat are we talking?' I was amazed and unhappy to say he was right! lol

wow Ive never heard a guy ask, thats funny, but soo rude, I don't understand this concept! .. Like Ive been asked alot when I'm in a jewelry store but its usually because there actually looking to buy an engagement ring and maybe want to see what it would look like on a persons hand, but to just ask for no reason is so rude and leaves a bad taste in my mouth

yeah i hate the question of how many carats...i guess we are humans and curious but when you dont know the person why even dare asking that? it's sooo rude. and then the price is a whole other story...seriously why do people feel they need to compete with others...
so my ring wil probably be less than my best friends do i think her fh loves her more than my fh loves me NO! people are crazy price means nothing when it comes to love well atleast for me and i hate when people compare. i have had the question before of how many carats is my ring. and i could see the girl had a bigger ring than me. and i said well how many is yours and she tells me (it was actually the same amount in carat weight but hers was a solitare mine is not so hers looked bigger) and i just said well it is very beautiful and ended the convo haha

I GUESS its just weird, i mean do ppl go around asking 'so hey how much do you make?' i would understand if someone was looking to get into the same field and wanted to know but otherwise its so weird

haha... I havent really had anyone ask me the size of my stone... i think it would be wierd, because i think if its certain people in your life you are okay with them asking, but then there are all the others and you just dont know what to say.
I have however, had people ask me how much i make.. and that too is awkward.

thats a good idea!! someone asked me that at the hair salon and i was caught off guard and i lied and said it was less carats than it actually was.....people were listening and i dont know why i did that i just felt weird and uncomfortable and didnt want them to think i was being showy - she is married and was wearing her ring so what i should have said was how much is yours! thats a really good idea catie - im doing that next time someone asks!! i get so embarrased and feel really uncomfortable when people ask....

OMG- how rude. The poor guy who just bough the ring must have felt so awkward. I would have just told him..'its nice, dont worry my FW wil love it'!
I know guys feel pride in the ring and stuff, but who the he!! goes and asks questons like that- its like a 'one-up -you' thing

honest when someone asks a question like that i kinda laugh because im taken back by the question and ask 'why are you writing a book on me' and usually they'll realize its a bit personal and even ask 'too personal'? and ill be like uhmmm yeah just a little

haha glad i could help!!! and your ring is gorgeous you shouldnt feel uncomfortable saying it is what is it...show that baby off haha. but i get what you are saying about feeling uncomfortable that someone you didnt know well asking you that question! it's like come on now!!! but i remember you bringing another point in last thread saying how people think that girls who have big rings they are fake or not good clarity etc...so it kinda is a double standard. the small rings say 'oh well they were cheap and fh doesnt love them as much' and the bigger stones say 'well they are probably not great clarity and cut or fake'. I think people just need to stop caring haha..but hey i cant change the world even though sometimes i think i can haha
