Writing on Sea Shells?

Does anyone know what kind of pen or marker to use to write on Sand Dollars? We are making them into Christmas Ornaments and I would like to write on them. Any ideas?

Go to a craft store like ac moore or michael's. I'm not sure what the surface on a sand dollar is, if the ink would bleed or not, but there are many different kinds of markers, paint pens, caligraphy pens ect...Good Luck!

thanks for reminding me... i need to go to michaels today to buy some markers to write on my sand dollars...i think a permanent sharpie marker with a fine tip would work perfectly, but i am going to experiment first.
