X-Post: Cake Ribbon & Rhinestone Help/Question

Ever since I saw this photo on LIW, I wanted the cake design to be the same sooo badly! Crest Hollow doesn't provide this stuff so I have to buy the ribbon and rhinestone myself.

I went to Michaels and bought a pink satin ribbon - is that okay or will the buttercream soak through it?

And does anyone know where I can buy a long strand of rhinestone - I've seen them as two strands together, but I only want it as one.

Thanks!

buttercream can stain satin ribbon, it can make the color look darker.

There is buttercream ribbon you can purchase or you can use wax paper between the cake and ribbon

Did they tell you who the baker is? They should be able to tell you what to buy and where to buy it. Def ask if they havn't told you yet. Usually halls use a bakery that you can stop by and ask them in person.

That's a great idea, I just thought they made it themselves so I never bothered to ask.

I had that cake! The flowers on top were WRONG due to my florist!!! but otherwise it was the same.

I bought the ribbon from AC moore and the crystals from ebay. I had a 5 tier cake and I needed 8 yards of ribbon (ivory satin) and 9 yards of single strand, white mesh backed crystals.

* I tried resizing the pics like 129381237 times and it keeps coming out nugget sized, so I put them in my album

hahah I went into your album and they're still nugget sized

Was your cake fondant or buttercream? Thanks for the yardage on the ribbon and crystals - I was definitely estimating a lot less than that!

I did get married at CB, they didn't provide the stuff.. I brought it all in about 10 days before the wedding and they said it was fine. I had brought a picture to my final menu picking meeting so that's when I picked the cake. If you have any questions about CB or want to hear any of my comments.. fm me
