You don't have to, but its pretty cheap to re-deed a property and it gives you more protections. Once you get married, you would deed the property as tenants by the entireties instead of tenants in common. If one of you declared personal bankruptcy or owed a debt, they cannot force you to sell the house. (They can do that if you are tenants in common).
It doesn't come up that often, but I would definitely do it. Should cost less than $500 including filing fees.

We didn't do it and won't since I'm keeping my name. We were engaged when we bought the house so our deed already reads joint tenants rather than tenants in common.

I didn't even think about this, we bought the house together when we were engaged, not sure how the deed reads

Not sure what we'll do; i probably won't rush to change my name right away so maybe i'll get around to it eventually.
