XM/Sirius

I was thinking about getting something for FH as a wedding gift. I know almost nothing about it. I know they are combining

Any suggestions? What kind of reciever and where to get it?

Fh has sirius and he LOVES it. He has it in the car and he's constantly listening to it. I'm not sure where to get it though....they should have a website. It's a subscription service and you have to buy the actual receivers for it....i don't know if that was any help...lol

FH LOVES sirius.

is your FH a baseball fan? If so then get him XM...serious doesnt have Mets games on their broadcast. FH was upset about that.

That's exactly why I was thinking about getting he...he is a MAJOR sports fan...I'm a total sports widow most of the year...between football season, baseball, hockey. UGH. I can barely talk to him about anything especially if a game is on.

PLEASE send me the code

I edited the question...I knew they were merging...i'm just not sure about subscriptions and recievers. Also, is it better to wait until after they actually do merge?

FH loves XM. I like it too. His step-father has Sirius and I don't like it as much.

XM has Opie & Anthony, a bunch of other famous duos from radio and also baseball. Sirius doesn't carry baseball. They only carry sports that are on TV when everyone is home already

FH loves Sirius b/c he is always listening to Howard Stern...but the question he asked me and for a guy is important is the which is more important on the radio to him baseball or football?? Sirius does football and XM does baseball

Re: XM/Sirius

We have Sirius and love it. We have the Sportster Replay receiver, car and home unit, and FH has the Stiletto which is like an IPOD. But the reason we got Sirius is because we're Stern fans.

Honestly, they're the same except for two things which are the deciding factors for most people:

Sirius has Stern and football.
XM has opie and anthony and baseball.

If your FH is a fan of either/or then just get him whatever he's a bigger fan of. Other than those two things they're really the same, lots of different music and talk stations.

I absolutely LOVE XM. They have everything your FH will love (especially if its Sports) they carry NHL, MLB, Nascar etc.
Plus so many music stations and they carry Opie and Anthony, which is pretty much the only reason i have it lol

Re: XM/Sirius

We had XM and then we switched to Sirius. They are pretty much the same, except for the sports they carry and which shock-jock they have. However, I find Sirius' music selection to be MUCH better. XM had a Jam band station, and they got rid of it - this is the main reason FH wanted to switch to Sirius. Their jam station is awesome. Sirius also now has a Grateful Dead station and a Bruce Springsteen station (I hate bruce, but for some folks, this is a plus). Sirius also names their channels more appropriately I think - you can pretty much tell by reading the channel name what they play. Xm had stations like 'Lucy' and 'Fred' and 'Ethel.' Aside from missing 'Ricky' it doesn't tell you much about the station.

I bought a receiver at Walmart, best price hands down. But we bought all of our other ones at Best Buy.

Re: XM/Sirius

thank you for posting this, I wanted to get it for FH for his birthday so I looked into it quite a bit. It's actually cheaper if you order it through the serius website, also, if you manipulate google, you can find a coupon code for a pretty good percentage off. HTH
ps- I don't know how the product actually is because I didn't get it for FH for his birthday but I do plan on getting it for him for christmas

Re: XM/Sirius

I love Sirius. ESPECIALLY - at work, online

My big complaint is that my FH got it for me and it's like half assed set up in my car because I lease. He really wanted to 'hard wire' it but I told him that was a waste of money since it's a leased car and I'd have to pay to have it removed...

Well, any time a car passes by my song vanishes and I get to hear their crappy rap or country music or howard stern <--- nothing against howard, but i rarely listen to him...

I really have to look at the prices but that sounds like a good deal.
