Re: How would you feel if a wedding guest copied a bunch of your stuff and used it at their wedding?

i would be a little bothered for a little while but you did it first and they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. you should feel proud that your wedding was so beautiful that people are using your ideas

I would first be creeped out, but then I would be left with a very flattered feeling.

I think I'd be honoured that someone thought so highly of what I had envisioned and put into reality thay they would want to replicate me.. Yeah- it was your hard work and Imagniation that wen't into it all but still those simle touches are things that some people just can't imagine on their own. As far as her asking your MIL to replicate and do all that work- what balls this woman has!!!

They say that imitation is the best form of flattery. But I would still be irked. At least your wedding was first.

definately would be frustrating after all the hard work put in.... but you should look on the positive side they they copied it because they REALLY liked your work...

OMG - the same thing is happening to me right now! one of my BM's is getting married and everything is oh, we'll have to get that, and oh, we'll have to get this.
she even told me she hated this BM dress i picked out for them AND THEN USED IT FOR HER BM'S

I guess it's flattering, but at the same time, we all spend so much time personalizing our weddings that for someone to copy those ideas is sort of offensive. It's like, that's not their personality, it's yours. You were the one who took the time to come up with all this great stuff and they just reaped the benefits. Yeah, I'd be irked.

I would be flattered and it would not bother me at all. They came to my wedding and used some of my ideas in their own. OK. My life would still go on.

I agree, and let's face it how unique is each wedding really? Who actually remembers the details except us, our mothers and the guests that were so impressed with them that they copied them. I'd be flattered - If I really came up with a unique idea. But what is anyone doing that hasn't been done before?

I wouldn't mind unless they tried to take ownership like it was something they just thought up.

I think they should have called you and asked 'would you mind if we used some of your great ideas. we are a bit lost here' or something like that. But just doing it...I would be a bit annoyed to be honest.

I would fee proud. It just reinforces how wonderful your ideas were, and they loved it so much that they copied you. As long as their wedding is after you...

honestly, I'd be pretty pissed off. If they wanted tot kae your idea about the menus and programs they could ahve at leasy changed the font and layout A LITTLE. But you know what, your wedding is over, ti was fantastic, and it just goes to show you that you had great ideas anda great vision that someone loved it enough to want to emulate it

They never acknowledged to us that they borrowed our ideas. So, now I feel like my ideas were STOLEN...

This is key! Borrowing ideas is absolutely something that everyone does, subconciously or not, but they obviously knew they were using your ideas, which is fine, but they should have acknowledged it! A simple, 'we were so blown away and inspired by the details at your wedding...' would have done it. I mean let's face it, you're not the first one to have calligraphy placecards in frames, but still, they should have given proper credit to you and your DH if they were using so many of the same things. I'd be annoyed too.
