we would spray bitter apple on our furniture of he would bite on that! and i bought tons of raw hide bones... they kept him occupied to hours! good luck- it's a long process b/c they teeth until they are over a year old!

I know this sounds mean..but my friends dog wouldnt stop chewing on her dresser until she put hot sauce on it! He sure as hell stopped then! She tried the bitter apple, but that didnt work after the first day, I guess they get used to it or something.

We did a few things (pugs can be incessant chewers)
1- we put garlic powder or curry powder on the area he was chewing.
2- if we cought him in the act we would throw an old coffee can full of loose change near where he was chewing. It not only distracts him, but the noise scared him away from the area. I think the 'clicker' training works kinda like this also.
3- We make sure to buy him chew toys that do not associate with any fabrric we have in the house. His toys are neoprene, rough canvas, or the nylabone.
