Re: Someone tell me about workman's comp????
Posted by jenny2penny
How does it work? Do you have to be out of work, or what if you can still physically go to work, but not perorm all your responsibilities?
Do they reimburse mendical co-pays/costs??
Thanks
It works differently depending on the nature of your business. And there is more to it than this, but these are the basics. AND they do not reimburse your costs...if you paid out of pocket, then you may have a hard time getting the claim to go through. WC is wierd like that, but you (the patient) cannot pay anything out of pocket or it will be reviewed by WC. (usually, again each company & injury could warrant a different protocol.)
If you get hurt at work or performing your job, and report it within 7 days of the date of injury to whomever is the WC liaison at your job, the least they have to do is cover your medical care that would treat this injury.
Although I do have to say it is easy to get coverage for the initial treatments, but if it involves long term care (like PT), then usually the insurance company will make you go for an IME with one of their doctors to verify that the treatment is neccessary.
Why, did you get hurt???

Re: Someone tell me about workman's comp????
In that case it is a long term affect of your job, not unlike those who have had to undergo treatment for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Let em talk to my mom (she's in HR) and see what she knows or if she knows someone who can help you better. If you did report it to your job & they did not fill out anything for WC, they might be at fault. The tricky thing here is that your doctor's will have to officialy determine the acts of your job as the cause of your nodules. If they have done that then I beleive you do have a case, but again let me ask for sure.

my dr told me that given my line of work it is probably due to my job.
I never really blamed my job until they had me complete the forms and asked if I was ever trained, evaluated by my bosses, or provided a microphone. the first 2 never really, and I did not get a microphone by my job until after 2 years.
the dr said I should avoid teaching and talking in general so it can heal.....Right![]()
wow, I had no idea that it was affecting your job for so long. I will FM you later when I get more specific information for you...try to feel better
