I think you have it right - you obviously want them to come and this is the only way they can. Im sure they would have loved to get a day off by themselves anyway. Do you know anyone who could babysit. If so, you can always suggest someone and make it like you are doing them the favor!

Re: Help! Baby at wedding
considering that they are coming from out of town to come to your wedding, I think they should be allowed to bring their baby. If I was them, I wouldn't want to leave my baby with a random baby sitter. I just had the same situation, my FMIL called to ask fi FH's godfather could bring his 4 year old to the wedding since they didn't have anybody to watch him. How could I say No?

it is your godson so I think it will be special I am sure 1 10 month old will not make a difference to the party..but it will make a cute photo op!!

I dont see a problem with them bringing the baby (godson). Your parents wont even notice he is there with all that will be going on....

I have to agree, it shouldn't be a problem. I might be in the same situation, so i don't have a problem with that 1 baby coming.

I would say its not a problem, as long as you didn't tell other guests, that have children, that no children/babies allowed.

I say if you don't mind, why should anyone else? Plus I don't think a 10 month old is going to cause a scene.

Re: Help! Baby at wedding
There were 7 babies under 2 at my wedding. You will never know that they are there if the parents have enough respect for you to go elsewhere if the child starts acting up.

I think your parents are being unreasonable. Is there someone you could get to watch the baby in the bridal room or something? Just a suggestion.

Re: Help! Baby at wedding..Updated
Just a suggestion but since you have a bridal suite can you find a babysitter who can take care of your godson in the bridal suite that way his parents won't have to leave him somewhere far with a stranger?

Re: Help! Baby at wedding..Updated
Im sorry but I think your mom is being so mean to your bil's circumstances
This isnt like a friend or anything...its your brother in law and your godson!!!! The baby will probably fall asleep for a nap and youll never hear from him.....and to withold payments for your wedding is just evil!
Im sorry for you to get caught in between that and im sorry for your fbil to not be allowed to bring his son along and/ or not attend your wedding

I dont want children at my wedding, but this is different. It is obvious that they want to come but have no where to leave the child. I would be over the situation. You have more stressful things to worry about. When the reception is going on you are not going to care if there is 1 kid or 14 kids there. You are going to be partying like a rockstar and so will your parents.

I agree. It's a difficult situation. Children at a wedding is a touchy subject. I'm don't understand, however, why your Mom is being so unreasonable. I really hope it works out. I don't think that one ten month old baby is going to make a huge difference. She probably wouldn't even have noticed him there!

Re: Help! Baby at wedding..Updated
You already told them it would be OK, so I think it would be tough to go back on that now, even if you were to agree with your mom. One possible compromise would be to get them a babysitter who could watch him during the wedding...either at their hotel room, a friend or relative's house (if nearby), or even the bridal suite.
