I would ask the Fiance to say something.

Since you just met her it would not be a good idea for you to say something because she might get offended.

I would. Don't assume anything when it comes to something like that. Even though its your wedding, she might not care. She might think she'll look good with purple hair or something like that. Remember its your day.
Good Luck.

Okay, I'm sorry to disagree with you guys, but I think people should be able to do what they like with their hair. As long as it's neat, and she wears the dress you have chosen, it's her hair, and she should be able to wear whatever color she likes.

This is kind of like what was on Z100 this morning. (except it involved someone weight)

It shouldn't matter what color her hair is. What should matter is that it makes FH happy that she can be part of your day.

My Matron of Honor got married in September and her color was apple red. The day before the wedding one of her BM's died her hair to match the dress!!! The bride almost lost it... But it wasnt that bad. She didnt look like a COMPLETE idiot like we thought she would in the pictures...

Why don't you pick a style like a bun or something that would 'subdue' the color? Do not let her hair hang loose. Make sure it is up with lots of gel so that it is darker. Offer to get her hair done.

Can someone make joke about it, so that it doesnt hurt her feelings, but makes her realize that she cant have that kind of hair at the wedding?

My cousin had purple hair when I saw her in December, but for my other cousin's wedding 3 weeks ago,(she was a BM) her hair was back to normal.

Thanks for the input - I know that I have some time, but I appreciate the different views.

I'm sorry but I don't agree. I think everyone should be comfortable with their BM dress and all the other things, but I also think that the BMs have a responsibility to the bride, who is their friend and/or family.
Included in the responsibility is to look nice and not stand out like a sore thumb. It is a day about the bride and groom, and whether it be hair, nails, ridiculous fake tan, or anything else WE CAN CONTROL, it should be curbed out of respect to the bride and groom.

ETA
And if someone who has had purple, green and red hair doesn't realized that some things just aren't appropriate, then they should be told. Let her have red hair for her own wedding.

Re: BM with Fire Engine Red Hair

As much as I believe that people should do whatever makes themselves comfortable I feel differently in this situation. When you agree to be someone's BM or MOH you're agreeing to look a certain way to match what the bride has always envisioned her day to be like.

BMs absolutely have a responsibility to stay within their boundaries and not make extreme changes like that. Of course, I'm not talking about those things that we cannot control. No one should take the attention away from the happy couple on their wedding day and sometimes BMs (and guests) have a way of doing that with something outlandish.

So do what you want every other day, but just this once make the bride's wishes come true. Otherwise don't say that you'll be a BM, it's not required, you do have the option of saying no!

I agree with this as well. But if you really feel strongly about it, maybe have FH bring it up with your FSIL when the wedding date is near. JMHO

Re: BM with Fire Engine Red Hair

My future MIL has purple hair. She asked me if I wanted her to dye it brown for the wedding. I told her that I appreciated her offer, but I have always known her with colorful hair. Point is that hair is not just an item. It is an extension of the person and their personality. I think that when you ask people to spend money on a dress that they don't pick out they should be allowed to infuse a part of themselves into their apperance. You are the Bride and nothing ,not even flaming red hair, is going to take away from you on your day. JMHO.

No need to be sorry that you disagree. We are all entitled to our own opinions.

oh no...have someone say something....it doesnt have to be you....jsut casually bring it up

Re: BM with Fire Engine Red Hair

I would too...especially since she wants to be involved. I am sure she won't do anything craxy like that--if she can dye her hair red I am sure she can dye it a nice brown color for the wedding & then change it back to another color--it is only 1 day.

What if your FIL's said something to her--that might work too.
