We didn't have them and as it turned out, the church had a LOT of fall decorations up when we got married. I think if we did have altar flowers, people may not have even noticed them.

ETA: I just looked at where you are getting married - it is so beautiful, I really don't think you need them

I think if your church is really fancy then you dont need flowers and the flowers might even distract from the beauty of the church..
I have seen candle operas (sp?!) and I think those add a nice touch if you want something simple.

I don't think you need to do anything, especially if you have an ornate church. I think a lot of flowers might even take away from it.

I wasn't going to have any... The week before the wedding a friend of the family made VERY SIMPLE white bows, and we put them on every other pew....

I dont think they are necessary!
