you are definately not being petty, i would be very very bothered myself...i agree with the other girls, your date is set already, shes not even engaged yet, wait until she gets engaged and if she is still insisting on that time period tell her how you feel, how hard it would be on both your families etc...if you love your date, and you already have things booked there is NO reason to change it b/c someone else want the same time...first come first serve!!

I wouldnt change your date, you were engaged first. But no matter what theyll prabaly be something near your wedding. Learn to gt used to the idea.

My younger sister graduates college 3 weeks after my wedding. I knew this but i picked it anyway. People who want to come to your wedding will make it no matter what.

first of all they arent even engaged yet.....dont change your date Michelle!!!! seriously........she should not overstep you with this at all.....

Thanks Jackie, I don't want to seem like a baby or an attention Whore with the whole it's my wedding, it's hard, b/c I don't think that they realize it... It's alot, of work, especially since we're doing alot of DIY stuff & I thought the BP would help

absolutely! honestly i dont think anyone should be claiming a date for a wedding when they arent even engaged yet! lol......maybe once she gets into the situation she will realize.....if not have a heart to heart....

I was just going to say that, see what happens after shes engaged, and then if she still wants to do it around your date, have a little talk. It isn't fair for you guys to change your date, I mean you did set it before and she knew that.

Thanks, now I'm scared too b/c we've already started booking vendors

If you cousin knows your date then yeah that's kind of selfish I would not do a wedding so close to a family member's especially if I know.

Am I selfish if I move my date b/c I don't want to be after her wedding? Or miss her wedding if we're on our honeymoon?

I dont think so, I mean she knows your date. And if you move it then you can tell her you moved it b/c you thought to weddings in one month would be too much for OOT guest, and that you can't make it to theirs cause you'll be on your HM!

You got engaged first, you choose the date first.

DO NOT change your date!!!

OK-I have to reply on this one!

I dont htink you are being pety........BUT BUT BUT!!!

I HAD (notice the HAD is capitalized) push my wedding date from 2006 to 2007 and for my FSIL who got engaged...so I have a biased opinion. As for that-if you are that worried about people not coming etc. tell her.....AFTER SHE IS ENGAGED!!! Or move your date!

I don't think you are being selfish. As childish as this is going to sound...'you set your wedding date first.' She really shouldn't be considering a wedding within a 2 month window before or after yours. It's only fair.

I agree with this 100%!!!

So do I. Why don;t you try talking with her, telling her your concerns?

i feel like you had it first and so shouldnt have to change it. I think y ou should have a polite down-to earth conversation with her after she gets engaged. im sure she'll understand.

Peggie you HAD to change your day?

I don't want to make it uncomfortable for either of us, any suggestions?

yes-HAD to change my day! The only thing I can tell you is be cautious what and how you say anything to her! I AM STILL TO THIS DAY PO'ED about having to change my day!
Just keep mentioning YOUR DATE and how it would mean the world to you if everyone was able to come-once she is engaged tell her how you feel. You will find out in about 5 seconds whether or not she cares about your feelings.

I don't think you are being selfish at all and I cannot understand why she would even say or think of doing this to you. Especially since she is in your wedding party. I also don't think you should change your date at ALL or even consider it for that matter. Why should you work around her potential schedule when you were engaged FIRST. I would wait until its 'offficial' then talk to her about it seriously.

Thanks, & I'm sorry they MADE you change your day, I don't want to do that to her, I tend to please others before myself (hence wanting to change my date) I sent my aunt (my BFF & MOH all in one ) an e-mai lexplaing how I feel, about it to see what she thinks....

Peggie I really appreciate you sharing your pov, I'm so sorry that you went threw this, I'd hate to cause any Friction w/ her

Im not saying change your date...just be careful what you say! Wait to say anything until after she is engaged! SHe might realize once she is that she IS being selfish!
It ***** to change your day-but we our wedding is going to be 100X better then it would have been had we kept our date...but alot of words were thrown when it came down to changing and how I felt about it-one her day I will NOT be enjoying it at all! Because of this
