We invited about 185 guests...And we are having our engagement party next month at CLM...FM if you need any details, i will be happy to help.

I had my e-arty at knights of Columbus.. located at 169th on Northen Blvd. I had 140 people and the hall held 150-160... and it's non-catered but they charge you pp for the alcohol like $4-7 for adults and $2 pp for soda etc. I paid $750 from 8-1am (i paid for an extra hr) Total bill was $1200?? and we brought in our won food...
oh and the hall was really nice!

Oh duh you said non-catering hall lol...Well i actually didn't want a catering hall either...The place i had originally looked was gorgeous, different than your typical place and all that...Well for one our guest list started getting too big for that place too, they fit 130ppl comfortably...Then they tried to charge us $10pp per hour for alcohol which wouldve come out to 7000 with the amount of guests we have...Also, there were all these restrictions with the time and day of the week. It was a restaurant so they don't like closing down bc they lose money and all that...I called up SOOO many places, clubs, lounges, bars, restaurants, lofts, even Madision square garden, believe it or not they have many rooms that they have parties in. But there were problems regarding the time, and we'd have to be out too early for what i wanted, and a bunch of other things.

Thats when i just finally said ok lets go to CLM check them out bc we had looked at CLM for our wedding, but didn't pick it though. The price is pretty good, in case you reconsider.

My friend is having his in feb at CLM as well.. they were very accomodating and great prices!

why bother having that many people? thats a wedding!! an engagement party is supposed to be for your family to meet theirs. that sounds like everyone and their mom! we had a backyard luau for like 30 people and it was wonderful. we saved our money and are spending it on our wedding instead

FH has twenty something first cousins, then each one with their wife, fiance or girlfriend, is about 50 there alone, his aunt and uncles and other family members, is over 70 people alone...So yes even just family and close friends comes out to alot. I did cut the list a little to 160 but our wedding is 350-400. Just his family and our bridal party alone equals 100 ppl, and with their dates its actually over 100.

Alot of people actually use the money they get from the e-party and put it towards their wedding.

that's what I thought too!!!! I've been to e-parties where there are toasts and everything, like a real wedding!!!!

We are inviting over 100 people just b/c there are some fam members I HAVE to invite to the wedding therefore I want them at the e-party so it's not so awkward for me and FH when greeting guests at tables and such.

To answer the OP, we're looking to rent out a small bowling alley.... HTH!

Beleive me, i would love it if it were only 30 people, but FH family is huge, and that doesn't even count his cousins.

Realisitcally, since almost 50 of them are in Florida, they probably won't come. Unfortunately, I have to plan that they will

So, this is 78 people immediate family (aunts, uncles, grandparents, sisters, brothers), then our dear friends & SO's, and very dear family friends.

Can you imagine the wedding gues list?

I am in the exact same situation, FHs family is HUGE. and yeah we have about 70something guests that are just his family...And some people are upset because we said no second cousins, i couldn't even imagine...Yeah not looking forward to the wedding guest list lol...Those seating charts will drive me crazy

Thanks everyone for the suggestions... Espcially Paparazzi... they have reasonable prices, and can easily accomidate us. I just might book them!

I would have loved CLM as many of you suggested, but i hope to have the Wedding there, so I can't do the e-party too

Oooo ok yeah i dont suggest CLM then if you will have your wedding there...but hmmm wait, how many guests are you having at your wedding, bc when we went there was no way CLM was big enough for our wedding...They say 300 maximum, but honestly i cant even imagine 300 there.
