yea, I wouldn't get her a gc, instead, I'd get her:

a weekend getaway (especially since they aren't taking a honeymoon)
computer
TV
furniture
new luggage

What if you did buy them a weekend getaway somewhere - like a 3-day vacation to Montauk, the Pocono's, or in my case, DH and I went to Newport, RI for the weekend after our wedding and had a BLAST for very little money.

Give her the getaway she can't have right now.

Since they've lived together for a long time it might be nice to get them some new things to start their married lives off with. Maybe towels (with their monogram) or bedding. You could also do something like put together a basket with wine, cheese, candles, and a romantic movie.

Re: Need help with a shower gift!!

My friend got married last year and this was her 2nd marriage and they also lived together for 3 years before their wedding day, so she really needed nothing. I was her MOH as well, and they also did not go on a HM. DH and I have a house in the Pocono's that we rent out, so we gave them the house for the weekend after the wedding and babysat their son for the weekend. We also set up a nice dinner for them with a restaurant by the house in the Pocono's. We had a car pick them up and bring them home so they could both drink. We told the restaurant to sit them by the fireplace, have flowers, candles and wine on the table, and whatever they ordered was on us. And then we had their favorite cake for them that said Congratulations! Then we had the cleaning lady go into the house while they were at dinner and set-up a bedroom (I told her not to go into the bedroom they were sleeping at because I didn't want her to move their personal things) with rose petals, lots and lots of candles but not to light them (my friend loves candles) and chocolate and leave a path of rose petals from the door to the bedroom.

The house was free, but the car and the dinner really only cost about $350 (the Pocono's is cheaper than LI) if you wanted to get them a nice dinner here since they aren't going on a HM.

I also love this idea. I would definitely do something romantic for them!
