Re: Why ask for a review....

Thank you ladies for your support. I revised that thread a million times to try to make it better.....I even showed pics of what certain things looked liked for future brides. I thought it was a well put together thread darn it! lol

this came from your album, so you must not have disliked the whole place.... and I quote...

'My good friend Candace got married on July 12, 2007...our one year mark! She got married at The Thatched Cottage...the place was beautiful, she was beautiful and everything was great! We had so much fun!'

OK.. I can't read it cause it was deleted, but I do see how people are upset just because should the bride stumble upon this, it will break her heart. At my eparty for the first hour and a half, all FH and I worried about was if our guests were having a good time. Maybe you just be more confidental about whose wedding it was. However, a review about a place good or bad is the purpose of this forum, or so I thought.

I agree. I didn't mean for it to sound like SHE had a bad wedding. It was great and I had a good time. She looked stunning, he was handsome....the gazebo/lake setting was fairytale-like. The review wasn't on the wedding itself..strictly on the place.

Yup, as I've said through this thread...she was beautiful and so was her wedding. Look at those pics..noone can deny that a gazebo on a lake is an ugly place to be married!

Re: Why ask for a review....

that actually happened once

i think it was to an 06 bride - someone wrote a terrible review of her wedding and then a friend pointed it out to her ( why? i dont know ) and she was very upset

i couldnt imagine thinking that my wedding was perfect and then reading otherwise.

i think people should be able to post whatever they want, but i cant help but feel bad for the bride, KWIM?

Tilde, I'm with you 200%. I feel terrible that this was misconstrued by people as me not enjoying my friend's wedding.....it was a RH review. I feel like I should delete the pics now and just drop this whole thing. Dayum, first review and look at what happened. Does this mean we should all be wary of future reviews and discourage them?

I am sure that tons of people will have plenty to say about my wedding..am I going to gripe and complain about it, no? I mean, how many girls here are using pink as their BM colors and then how many girls on here hate pink for BM colors? If this was a 'let's get mad at someone with another opinion/view' forum, then I'd understand. All I know is this taught me a valuable lesson.....no more reviews. Flowers/Hair/Makeup/Bridal Stores/RH's/Churches......I feel bad for future brides who rely on this stuff.

well if you did nothing wrong then there is no reason to get mad. My only concern was about your friend...if i went to a wedding id be very honest, a friends wedding i will make sure to sugarcoat it a bit and also to point out nice things bc i wouldn't want her to think i hated her wedding after all the work she put into it. Otherwise just move on and dont worry, others are happy you gave them honest reviews about their RH so dont let it get to you

I personally prefer honest reviews, bad or good...that's what helps me choose my vendors...and deal with the vendors I have that have gotten bad reviews...what's the point of being on LIW if you can't handle honest reviews

honestly, i wouldnt review a friend's wedding

and if i did - i wouldnt refer to the friend or the date just the hall and the information that i wanted to share

( this is just me, i am not telling anyone else what to do)

PS - i didnt read the review so i will shut up now. . .

Perhaps there should be an anonymous review section on liweddings? Might help to spare peoples feelings.

I was fine with it too...

And if I was the bride, instead of being upset at the reviewer I'd call my RH and scream at them - not my friend.

If it was that bad too - believe me - the bride is hearing it from family... Great Aunt Millie is telling Great Aunt Chippie that the food was cold and the waiter was a jerk. And it's trickling down to the bride...

BESIDES ppl get over it...Ive heard negative things about my RH as did everyone else...I didn't mind but it did raise concerns for me and did help for me to figure out from ahead of time how to solve the problem.

I know. I guess it's just that I really hope that people on here don't sugarcoat stuff about places because only the truth will keep me from going or staying away from certain places. I am not mad....I guess just needed to vent a little in response to certain responses. One of them in particular got me heated and I had to say something. Thanks : )

Re: Why ask for a review....

I do want to add something though, I didn't get to read your review mrsdtobe because you deleted it so I'm not referring to your review at all....but I do notice that sometimes, some people post negative things and sometimes they say it in an inconsiderate way....so in the future, if any brides have anything negative to say about a vendor, we should keep in mind how we use our words so others won't get offended by it...this is something i'm still learning to do myself.... some will still probably get offended (some are just overly-sensitive) but don't add to it by saying stuff like 'Oh, I didn't book with that RH, the decor is tacky, etc' i've seen this written many times and it's really irritating and offensive......

oh no was it a problem with your wedding specifically or with the actual place and it might happen to other brides there....??? can i know lol

Sorry I am sooo nosey when it comes to my vendors but that is because it helps us out...negative things are definitely good things to hear because it does help you fic the situation for your own wedding. i mean come on now if there was never a bad review about a place i might be a little concerned because not everyone likes every vendor.....

but i mean hopefully your friend wasnt hurt by it if she saw it and i agree with jenn i would be calling the place up not getting mad at everyone else who told me my RH sstunk with service etc...

Agreed...too bad that alongside of each emoticon they didn't have a 'tone' teller...so we can figure out HOW people are saying what they are saying!

I'd be on the phone with them in a hearbeat too! Hopefully some people have done this already. One of my vendors got my panties in a bunch about another vendor I booked, so I went right to that vendor...discussed the issue at hand...it wasn't even an issue as I thought it was! It was a relief to ask anyway and get it out of my head!
