Re: sorry long vent

Do you think it might help to talk to your mom, in person. I've noticed my dad doesn't quite 'get' a lot of the wedding stuff (he didn't realize my wedding was in 2008 and was panicking because he thought we were getting married 2 months after we booked the hall and hadn't thought about invites or any of that stuff). Your dad might be different, but I feel like I can talk to my mother a lot more frankly and get a direct answer (sometimes).

With FH and I, we really tried to have all money discussions in person with the parents and without each other...I just didn't want his parents feeling like I was pressuring them to give money.

Good luck with everything!

I'm sorry that your parents will not help you out for your wedding. Are you sure they won't help out once the planning is done? My parents told me all along they don't have the money to help but now that we're almost done planning they told us they'll be helping. I think it's because they didn't want us to go overboard knowing we have their money to spend. Is this maybe something your parents are doing? If you don't think it sounds like something they'd do, you can ask them for your gift beforehand to help pay for wedding costs. I'm sure you wouldn't be asking them if you didn't really need their help. I'm sorry that you're so upset

thats weird my dad told me the same thing. that we will get a 'nice gift'. my parents didn't pay for my sister's wedding so i didn't expect them to pay for mine. however, my mother is paying for my dress, the favors, & florist. a big help. until recently she hasn't shown her entuasism. to get her to come gown shopping was a chore.

very sorry you are going through this

anyway you can have a heart to heart with your mom?
