Re: tuxedos - were you there????

I let him pick them out, but then I went to the shop afterward to see them, not like I would have been able to tell him no though. He had wanted to pick them and he said since I got to pick my dress then he got to pick the tuxes.

I went with him and helpedhim pick it out. Are you kidding, if I left him to do it all by himself...I dont know what he would have shown up in

Re: tuxedos - were you there????

I'm such a tyrant that yes, I was totally involved. I did all the research and found out everything, and went w/FH to handpick the tuxes, until we compromised on what we both wanted.

It wasn't too hard for me, b/c FH was dragging his heels, so I was able to duck in and take charge.
He had wanted to pick out his own by himself tho' and I explained I needed to be there to make sure it matched the 'look' of our wedding.

If your FH ususally picks out stylish clothes that you like for himself tho' I'm sure he'll be just fine, and the salesppl at the tuxedo places are usually quite helpful also.

Good Luck

Tell him the women are always there to color coordinate, simple as that.
Go as far as to get a swatch of your BMs dresses and your dress and bring it tux shopping w/you to further prove your point.

Tell him he's not walking down the isle YOU are.
Him and the GMs all wear basically the same tux anyway, so it's not that much of a surprise.

I had to strongarm Len, and in the end I got my way

if you go with ivory...tell him so he will not choose a vest that will clash with you. That dpeneds on what color vest he chooses.
I had a white gown, and he wore a white vest. The first question the tux people asked was if I was wearing white or ivory.

Re: tuxedos - were you there????

i think you need to chose your dress first. The tux can wait (not that you will want to do this) until like 3 weeks before the wedding. If you might have ivory, he needs to wait (he will probably want an ivory shirt). I sent FH with a swatch of the BM dresses too so he could match the vests. Otherwise, it was all his decision!
Good luck, don't stress, it will be fine. Turn to your dress and don't worry!!

Re: tuxedos - were you there????

My fh wants to pick himself- I said NO WAY!!! He has the worst taste (mean to say, but true)

I told him he could go without me if he brings one of two people(two of his friends I know have good taste) but I get final approval.

Jenny, it really depends how much going w/him means to you.

Remember my favorite rule: PERSISTANCE BEATS RESISTANCE

You will get your way if you really want to

Re: tuxedos - were you there????

I am in the EXACT same situation! My dress is white and I think my BM's dresses will be black, so it may be not as big of an issue, but I'm nervous. When we first got engaged, he told me he would wear a white tux! I told him he would look like Captain Stubing from the Love Boat, so that ended that. Now he tells me it will be a classic black tux (IT BETTER BE!!!!) I'm going to try & get my dad to go with him, but I highly doubt that will happen (I think that is my FI's biggest nightmare).

Re: tuxedos - were you there????

We just did tuxes this weekend...it was FH, his best man, and me. He actually wanted me to come along, but even if he hadn't, I would have insisted. Good luck!

I plan on coming along, but then again FH got to help me pick my dress too.

I guess I am the only one who didn't go! He didn't do any of the planning (my mom and I really did mostly everything) and wanted to be involved so I let him pick out whatever he wanted. I sent along his brother and father to supervise, though! And I was very pleased when I saw what he picked out on the wedding day. I already knwew he wanted a mourning suit, and was quited happy with that choice.

I went with FH and his GM. They didn't mind at all, they luv me! I think they really wanted me there for a girls opinion!

My FH and I went together. We picked out a vest design that had colors that matched the BM dresses. So if you want to coordinate colors you should let him know ahead of time or go with him.
