ur right I totally agree with that, but his medical condition does not allow it.
we will see what his boss says

if he can't do it for medical reasons, then can't he talk to his boss about it

Reg - tell him to speak with the H.R. department if there's a medical reason why he can't work those hours. They might be able to make arrangements for him.
