I didn't see the other thread you're referring to, but I have worked at this museum through a catering co. a while back. I thought the ceremony and cocktail hr was beautiful, being near the artwork and all, but was always a little disappointed with the tent for reception - JMO.

As far as prices go, just keep in mind that you'd have to hire an outside caterer to come in with all the food, drinks, linens, tables, etc. so that could be costly too.

The best thing to do is go speak with them and see the place in person

Depending on the place, you may be able to negotiate some of the pricing. I am not sure about the Nassau County Museum of Art, but you never know until you try.
