Yeah.. so why do I have to buy my vendors dinner?

Original post by esb980

Whatever.... I mean no big deal but I hate being told I HAVE to do things..... and really, W T F?!?! When I go to work (and don't get paid as much as the dj at my wedding is getting paid for 4 hours of work) I cannot expect that on top of my salary (AND a tip) I get treated to a meal that cost over $100... W T F.... why do i have to feed them?!?!? They also 'take up spots' I think this is bull.... bring a w/w meal... geeze....

ETA: I am just venting, I DO get why they get fed... kinda

It seems that your problem is with the Hall. I personally thought all halls charged less for the 'vendor' meals (guess I was wrong). We're paying less for our vendor meals. I think you should definitely negotiate with your hall regarding your vendors. I understand your frustration and I questioned it at the hall too, they totally understood and hence the reason for the reduced price per person. HTH.

My photographers (I have two) told me they only required a sandwich - they don't want a full meal. They said they didn't want to have to sit down and eat because 'since [they] are contracted for ten hours, [they] will work for ten hours.' My hall is still making me pay for a meal for them though. Oh well.

I hear ya!! At least my hall gives us their meal for half the price and they are not included in our head count, but I don't get fed at work!!! I wonder what would happen if you sent out a notice beforehand saying they have to brown bag it

I don't think she was serious about the brown bag comment. I think she was just venting, but definitely has all intentions of paying for their meals. That was how I took it anyway.
