Do you know 100% sure what you are doing w/ respect to the name-change issue?
I do not. I know I'm taking FH's name (well, 99.9% sure), but not sure if I'm going to do:
1) first name, middle name, FH's name
or
2) first name, maiden name, FH's name
Both names sound foreign to me so hopefully I'll make up my mind soon so i can start getting used to it mentally!

Re: yep, another name-change poll
I'm definitely taking FH's name and keeping my middle name. So...First name, middle name, FH's last name.

Re: yep, another name-change poll
I am getting married in less than 6 weeks, and I still have no clue what I'm doing. I am not going to make any decisions until after the wedding, but not sure how much of a grace period I will have after...FH really wants me to take his name. I just can't get my head around the idea of changing my name.

Re: yep, another name-change poll
i changed it so it's First Name, Middle Name, Maiden Name, Married Name. When I changed it at social security I asked if I could have two middle names and they said no problem,

I'm still wavering. I love his last name and would love to take it, but- my last name ends with me. My dad had no brothers, and no sons!

I am def taking FH's last name. It does help that I love his last name! I also love my last name but I just feel like this is part of the tradition of getting married, you take the guy's last name. You start a new family with him. I'm not a fan of the hypenated names, but that is just me! I am keeping my middle name because I just think it would be weird to make my last name my middle name when I have a middle name already.

Re: yep, another name-change poll
I have never thought about first name maiden name and last name...never heard of it being done that way, but I guess it could work. My question though is what is the point? If you like how your maiden name sounds as a middle why not a middle name of a child, then it gets passed on? Cause when do we really use our middle names when we are older? I know a woman (much older) and her family name is Kinsey...she's married and such...but her neice named her daughter kinsey..i think it's so cute! i wish i had a last name like that!

Re: yep, another name-change poll
I am taking his name only, no hyphen or use of maiden name.....FH is trying to give me everything I want for the wedding and He asked me if I would take his name, so that is that, plus I have a bro and sister so one of them can carry on the name

The first name, maiden name, FH's name combo is very common in the legal profession. It's probably because people are established in their careers before getting married. A lot of attorneys (both at the law firm I worked at, and at my law school) use all 3 names.
Ex: one prof goes by 'First Maiden Last' and signs her emails FML but goes by 'Professor Last' -- my mentor at the law firm had 'First Maiden Last' on her firm profile on the firm website, and signs legal docs with all 3 names, but socially goes by First Last.
I know I want to take FH's name because I want us all to have the same name, want to have the same name as my kids, etc, but the middle name thing is something I never really thought of that I now am.

I'm taking FH's name and I'm kinda excited about it. I feel like we're really married if we have the same last name!
