Yes or No...to Table Cameras???

I'm contemplating if I should bother to get cameras for each table.
Who is doing this?

Should I bother?

I was going to, but I am not going to anymore- just another expense and I will have so many from the photographer and the many people who will have their digi cams. I may put one on the head tables...but thats it

I am having them, I think it's a great way to get pics that the photographer might miss, and also moments that I might miss, while talking to everyone. But maybe to save a little $ I won't get one for each table.

I too contemplated this. But we're not doing it. Aside from it being an added expense, FH reminded me howmuch fun he had at my BMs wedding walking around with the camera taking pics of peoples butts. I know, how mature. Considering all his friends (equally as mature) will be there, I have decided to save the money.

I was going to have them until I thought more about it. We're paying quite a bit for the photographer to take pictures...and the last wedding I was at we were at a family table and I think my cousin took like 6 pictures of his nose...and someone had to develop that...what a waste! I'm putting some on the kids table for fun but that's it!

It did not matter to me but FI likes them so we will! But I will be sure to put some kind of card that invites them to get super duper creative!!!

we did them for our wedding... and i can honestly say i could go either way.....
on one hand, we got some really cute shots like my uncle lifting my flower girl ( his daughter) up in the air while dancing- and both of them are laughing... its really cute.., and another one of me with my grandma....
but, on the other hand, we got some shots i could do without- like shots of peoples feet dancing that FFIL took
so i wouldn't say i'm sorry i did it, but i wouldn't say its something you have to do either- if you're a picture person like me, i think you'll appreciate the shots- i know i'll love looking at them 10 years down the road- but i wouldn't say its an absolute 'must do'

Get them, it is so much fun getting them developed. You get a lot of shots that the photographer doesn't get, especially a lot of your guests. There are some really funny photos that you'll develop too.

I say yes. I love pictures, so I think they are great.

no... thats what we are paying the photographers for... and most of the time people will take a couple pics and then the camera never gets used up so you are stuck with a bunch of dispoable cameras with film left over.. JMO..

honestly I dont see the need for table cameras anymore... a lot of our guests brought their own digital cameras and after the wedding I got at least 5 cds with pictures from the reception...

I opted to get the cameras for each table. I read on one of these threads that the best was a Fuji one (I forgot the exact model). But, I feel now looking at how much I spent buying them and then getting them developed, maybe I could have just given a few out to close friends who I knew would capture the 'right' moments. It was awful developing a cameras that had pics that were horrible! But I have to admit some pics taken were also really cool to see. Afterall, I didn't see everything everyone was doing at every moment. It was good some people caught those moments for me on camera. (I also had the film put on CD)

I am not having table cameras. My cousin had them and she told me it was not worth the money because she had to pay to buy the cameras and then pay to develop all of the film. Most of the pictures were not good and not all of the film had been used in all of the cameras. I agree with what some girls had mentioned about many guests having digital cameras. I am sure guests who get some nice pictures will give me copies. Even if they don't, I'm sure we will get tons of beautiful pictures from the photographer.

Either way is fine... I think it's a nice idea, however, with the prevalence of digital now - you can probably go without and get tons of great candid shots from your guests...without the added expense.

If you do decide to go with the cameras, I recommend mailing the rolls to Ofoto/KodakGallery - they will develop the film for a few dollars a roll, post the pix online for you to view - then you can see the pix before actually having them printed...so you don't end up paying for bad pix...just the ones you want...and then they mail you the negatives, and you can forward the pix for other people to see.

For me, it was worth the extra money even if we only got a handfull of great shots.

We're doing table camera scavenger hunt. BJ's cost to develop the film is relatively inexpensive, and we're only doing one camera per table.

We hired a separate person to take candid shots for the screens at the hall. He got hundreds of shots and gave us the files. It cost about $500 plus the cots of any prints that I got from Shutterfly. These were professional digital photos.

If you add up the cost of cameras and developing, it's about the same price that I paid, but I got such great photos!!!!

My friend did the table camera and she is still trying to use up all the fim. It's nice to have disposable cameras to use, but kind of a pain.

I say no....thats why your hired a photographer its almost like paying for something twice....just make sure to ask your photgrapher to get shots of everybody or table shots if thats what you want

I don't plan to. My sister did this and she ended up with only a handful of shots that were nice. I trust that my photographer will capture the events for me.
