Yes or No...to Table Cameras???

Original post by shellnroc

I'm contemplating if I should bother to get cameras for each table.
Who is doing this?

Should I bother?

i say half of them dont get used, half of them are crappy pics.. i'd rather spend that $ on a second photographer if you dont already have one and have him/her just snap away... i knwo to add a 2nd photographer for me will be about 800... so it depends on how much it costs to do that..

I have a second photographer, but we're doing them anyway. I've been working on the scavenger hunt lists. IMHO, it will be fun, and ensure they get used.

Also, somewhere on the boards is a review/test of the disposable cameras and which ones actually take good pictures. I'm not buying those cheap wedding cameras for $3.99 each, I'm gettting the ones that work, and not giving a hoot about the fact that the case is green (or whatever) instead of white with wedding bells.

Definitely YES!!!!!!!!!! It is a very small expense and totally worth it, IMO.

Our guests took some great pics! We’re very happy we did it.

I say no.

I'm going to have 2 photographers and make sure one of them is going around taking pictures of my guests.

i am going to but only with a few cameras, just to keep down on developing costs. I was going to burn all the images (the good ones anyways) onto CDs and set them to music for the parents and other family members who would like one. I am also going to put some pics on there from the wedding as well.

I got them! I got them on EBAY for $2 a camera and they are so cute!

A friend of mine did it and said it wasn't worth it...She said she only got about 15 good pictures from 20 table cameras, and it wasn't worth the cost of the cameras, developing, etc.

I dont thnk I will be putting a camera on each table. One vendor I met with suggested to designate a few people and give them a camera. I may do this.

We did, and it wasn't really worth it - most of the table camera pictures were not good. We got better casual photos frmo friends who brought a digital camera.

With taht being said - if you think you might regret not doing it, go for it. The expense is relatively minimal compared to all of the other $$$

Undecided-I think that if we have the money in the end we might do it last minute. I dont really NEED the added expense but have heard that the pictures are worth it

My sister had table cameras, and to tell you the truth, everyone was too busy...eating..drinking..dancing to even remember they were there. She had to get them all developed, and some pics didn't come out. Waste of money I think

We did them and I heard people saying what a waste it was bblah blah blah. Yes they were expensive to develop, but i absolutely love them. I have pics of everyone that was at the wedding. Plus my video is mostly of my DH and the disposable cameras have tons of pics of me dancing, I used the pics from the disposables for my scrapbook. I used them for my engagement party too. I feel like they allow you to see what everyone else was doing and gives you a view from where they were instead of the photographers

yes but not every table....

i would place cameras at a few family and friends tables (ones that you would think would use it)

We had 15 tables, placed cameras at 7 of them...

had 4 tables actually use them...got some good shots

this will give you good (different) angles of your day and allow you go get more pics of your guest

Re: Yes or No...to Table Cameras???

I decided not to have them because I got the largest photography package that my company offered since the professional pics are really important to me so there really isn't a need.
I also have this obsession (weird to me but I can't help it) with the tables looking too cluttered... between place cards, all the dishes, silverware, favors, glasses, and cameras--to me for some reason it's too much so I'm trying to limit it. (the things that bother me--so strange!!)
Plus, my cousin who had cameras showed me the pics she got from them and she said it was a huge waste because (hopefully other people's families are not as dumb as mine!!!) but people were taking pics of the food, drunk people acting like idiots, people's butts---I mean a complete waste LOL. So I figured what's the point--at least I'm saving money--my FH would be so proud!!
