Thanks. FH was complaining today that we didn't have a good dicing knife. What is a good knife for that?

We are getting the Henckels set, the knives that come with the flatware, extra steak knives, a santoku (big...nice for chopping veggies and stuff) knife, carving knife and bread knife. I couldn't think of any other knives to get LOL

My family is old fashioned and superstitious and won't buy anyone knives as wedding gifts. We can't use knives or scissors to open shower gifts either!

Not really sure what this is about.

I've heard of not using knives or scissors to open anything, but never heard of not getting them as gifts.

I don't get it either. My mom's side is weird about giving knives as gifts for any occasion. Ha ha! It's probably just them.

that's funny, we registered for knives and my mom's friends got together and chipped in to buy the knives for us. Before they gave them to us one of them said to give her a penny and then she gave us the gift so it's like we were buying the knives from her so we weren't really receiving them as a gift because we 'bought' them

to answer your question, we have the same set you registered for, it's great. If you want an extra dicing knife get one with serrated (sp?) edges. I don't have one so I'm not sure which one to recommend to you but I'm sure henckels sells them separately

those knives sound pretty good. now you only need the everyday knives. i use a chef's 8 inch knife for dicing.

You know my mom just told me about the whole no baby shower thing. I told her I'd be bucking that tradition, or lack thereof, so she'd better prepare now.

Re: Yet another registry question: Knives

So Jewish people don't believe in baby showers?

Don't get mad, but in a way baby showers make me nervous. I know this is an awful thing to say, but g*d forbid, something were to happen to the baby. I know that sounds horrible, but like too bad the showers can't happen AFTER the baby is born.
