You have NOOOO idea.... (or maybe you do)

OH MY GOD...

the Guest list has change FIFTEEN TIMES this week...

1. my mom's friend from Florida bailed.

2. my uncle is in the hospital so he and his wife aren't coming. (REALLY upset about this).

3. my brother's boss called today... HE's coming... his WIFE can't. (!?!?).

4. my aunt fell over the weekend and has black and blue eyes and a black nose with scratches on it, a bad ankle and black and blue all over her chest! She said if she still hurts and looks like this next week, she can't come.

5. my cousins can't find babysitters for their kids, so the wife MIGHT stay home with their kids now.

HOLY CRAP. Do these people realize you have to give a NUMBER!?!??! And you have to PAY for that number??!?! Now.. besides my poor uncle who was REALLY looking forward to the wedding and now won't be there, the rest are REALLY pissing me off...........

I've had to change the placecards along about TEN TIMES! (I'm ordering them from someone else! I'm not doing them myself, so it's not so easy to change!)

people are just so inconsiderate.

btw, i just read about your uncle, i'm so sorry. i hope he gets better. my prayers go out to him and his wife.

sorry... realized after I wrote the topic that this is probably the one place where girls DO have an idea! lol

Thank you for the prayers for my uncle (although his SECOND 'wife' pisses me off, too... she didn't even notify the family that he was IN the hospital! My mom had to call emergency rooms after her brother didn't answer his house phone and found out THAT way when one finally said that her brother WAS there!)

I have a suggestion. If you reached your minimum, why don't you just leave them out but count them at tables? This way if you see that they showed up, you can have the hall add chairs to those tables that day. Is that a possibility?

What I did because we have two people that are maybes. I didn't count them in my final count (RH said we can add people up until the day of, why pay when I'm not sure if they're coming). When I did my copy of the seating chart I put them in just so I knew there would be space in case they come. But don't tell the RH about these people. Hope this makes sense.

Same here. I am about to go bridezilla (which I haven't done in this whole process) on everyone who keeps changing their answer.

And I just talked to Joe... so now we will let THOSE two kids come since they asked nicely. How can we let the BULLIES bring THEIR kids and not a MINISTER bring HIS kids, even though they had PLENTY of time to find a sitter??!?!!?

Thank GOD Joe is SO understanding that only MY side has kids coming (and his one nephew).

He's still not happy about the bullies, though......

I understand having same issue but that is life -I rather they tell me now then not show up on that day.

ya know? I don't know... I think I'd rather them just have not showed. Then maybe I would just let it slide. This way, I'm trying to ACCOMMODATE and change things and make table cards and change tables. That day... que sera, sera....

you give the hall the lowest number you've got within reason...and if more show up, you pay for those day of at the end of the day...this is normal and what life is all about...surprises. we had people adding a date, adding their husband b/c he could come after all....up until the night before. JUST GO WITH IT.
as for placecards for those who MIGHT brings wives/husbands....you make their cards as if they are all coming. and for those that have MAYBE bailed, leave space for them and make a card for them just in case.

we went through this,. not as bad as this, but we had people cancel.

i suggest you the number you give the hall matches the number of people on the tables list. b/c they will notice if one says 125 and the other says 130 or 120.

do your best to get straight answers from people and if they say 'i don't know.' then count them as a no and move on.

My guest list changed the day I was walking out the door to give the hall the headcount. It then changed 4 more times in one week.

I gave my banquet manager a head count and seating chart and paid, then I gave my maitre'd a completely different seating chart and highlighted all the 'extra' people. The day of the wedding one couple called and said they couldn't make it, (sick child) and all the 'extra' people actually showed up.

At the end of the reception I paid for 5 extra people.

I really think a lot of people don't realize that. I didn't know until all of my friends started getting married! That doesn't make it ok, but all of these posts I've read make me think that I should probably tell people that beforehand!!! Maybe I'll have my mom spread the word She's shameless

I would tell the catering hall about 10 less than what you estimate to come guest wise. You can always pay the rest the day of the wedding.
