Yes but whenever someone makes a post like this.... I always say....
'It may be cheaper there... but WHY would I want to live there and make pennies on the dollar compared to NYC'.
that is not always the case. My BIL & SIL in TX make a very nice living (well over 6 figures) and their mortgage is $800 a month on a gorgeous 4 bedroom house w/3 baths on 1/2 an acre.
people may make less, but it's not a whole LOT less... not with every job.

that is not always the case- some people can take there NY skills and do very well in other states
I know my Hubby might not make more (he is going to move his company)- but in Florida he wont have to pay as much taxes-

Sorry Rich. This is not true. And my brother is in computers too...makes more than he did here. At least in major cities, the pay is comparable or better.

my BIL (an architect) is retiring in 8 years, when he's 50.
that's what happens when you’re able to invest a huge chunk of your $$ because your mortgage is a small fraction of what you earn I am SO jealous! but I am happy for him and his family.

wanna vomit some more, girls? my friend moved to VA and is looking to buy a house...sitting on 2 acres, 4 beds, 2.5 baths, 2500 sq. foot house. $175k!!!!! And the property taxes are like $2k a year!!! I'm a realtor and I know it's bad for business to say this but people our age are going to have a very hard time buying on LI if you don't have enough of a down payment. If anyone wants help, let me know...

That's available right here in NY...just upstate!
This is my family's house upstate. My parents & grandma built this house in the early 70's. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, HUGE kitchen, HUGE living room & dining room, 2 car garage, full basement ranch house....and it's on 3.5 acres of land. Here's the part that gets me...It's assessed for $150k-$175k...
Long Island real estate officially makes me SICK!!!
