I was talking to a friend of mine and we were talking about weddings, and she was telling me how she went to a wedding once, and while all the men were in suits and tuxes, some guy shows up in stonewashed RIPPED jeans, a light colored blazer and a tee shirt!!!!! And she thinks he was a cousin of the brides!!! And he wasn't from out of town!!! and his girlfriend, who she thinks was his girlfriend bc she looked way younger, so she's not sure, was dressed in a black dress, and she looked wedding appropiate!!! So what was his excuse??!!! Luckily, no one did that at my wedding (I put black tie optional on my invites, maybe thats why...), but I give that bride credit for not VOMITTING when she saw that!!! I mean thats not classy...let alone to me its a little disrespectful you know,.. like he didn't want to be there or something...
I've been to weddings and seen similar but I still thinks its appalling... no excuses... dress up.
If anything he shoud have worn dress pants and button down!! Not jeans!! Stonewashed nonetheless!!!!
but like thats sad and I figured it make a good convo on the boards since we are basically at the half way point....
would you be pissed if someone came to your wedding in regular street clothes??

I've been to a wedding where the brides half brother showed up in jeans a white t and a doo rag (or however u spell it)... Talk about wedding inappropriate!
I wouldn't have been pissed if somebody showed up in street clothes but I woulda just been like w t f??? U haven't been to a wedding before???

this one couple at our wedding looked incredibly sloppy. we let it roll off our shoulders, but the guy actually told us when we got back from our honeymoon that he thought his wife packed his suit and her dress and she thought the opposite--they didn't figure this out until a couple of hours before the wedding!

Ehhh, I'd probably laugh it off. Honestly, the day of, I didn't let anything get to me. So if someone shows up looking like a dirt bag, they're the one that's going to look weird, not you.

I've been getting slack from people by not putting formal attire on my invitations... but I feel this is a wedding and people, whether they are from out of town or not, should know better and dress up. Do these people go to work dressed in their ripped jeans and sunglasses on their heads? It says ceremony and reception to me that implies this is a nice occasion- dress up or be the odd one out!!
