Re: you really know who your friends are
yeah, i've had some people in FH and my life who turned out to be obnoxious during this process.
but on the other hand, we've also learned a lot about how wonderful some of our other friends are.

I completely feel your pain. We're at a 30% NO rate and aren't going to make our minimum - all people that we thought for sure were going to come and none of whom have a valid excuse. Definitely something I won't forget...

we arent gonna make our minimum either!!!! we still have about 14 people that havent responded.... our date was the 20th. and most of the people we invited with guests, have either since, gotten divorced, or broke up. so we have A LOT of single people now, that we counted on them bringing someone- totally understand of course. but there are people that we really went above and beyond for that arent coming to our wedding!!!! some have valid excuses, others well... dont. i just feel like i CARE SOOO MUCH about other people, and other peoples lives, and i feel like no one cares about mine right now.

We were just saying the same thing. I will NEVER go out of my way for some people ever again. And this is only for my shower so far. I can't wait till rsvps for the wedding start.

I know what you mean- I was totally shocked by some of the no’s we got. But, live and learn and if they ever have any events, I will not be going (maybe that’s childish, but that’s what I’m doing)

Re: you really know who your friends are
lost a friend during her wedding planning. she call to tell me how her plans were going and to brag...but she never invited me. She did'nt even realize i cut her off unitl 3 weeks after her wedding.
on the other hand.. I have just been to 3 weddings since my engagement and have one more to go to next month. not to mention showers and etc. I have spent so much $$$$ that if another friend gets married in the next 3 months i have no choice than to say 'no'.

Re: you really know who your friends are
I had a 30% no response rate so we will also be below our minimum. some were a shock. and none of the no's sent even a card saying sorry they can't make it and congratulations...
it is a wake up call for sure.

Re: you really know who your friends are
oohh... this is making me nervous.
i was definitely upset with some shower 'no's', but we only sent invites out last week, so not sure how many wedding no's we'll get.

I feel for you
I feel the same way, that I care so much about my friends and they don't reciprocate. I have one friend who was married already, I go so out of my way for her, and I fear she won't do the same now that it's her turn. It stinks, but what can you do?

We are not going to make our minimum either and I think I mentioned before that FH's relatives all are close with his ex. Well this weekend, his nieces resorted to calling me a w h *r e on Facebook 11 days before our wedding that they were going to attend!! These are 35 year old women. After this planning process, everyone can kiss my a s s!!!
