The 'CITY' is trying to make it a law that bars & clubs have to close at 1:00am!!! It's the complaint about noise polution in the late hours. Well DUHHHHHHHHH.........When the jackass (oops I mean our Mayor) makes all the smokers go outside to smoke what does he expect???? How much longer before we can boot this moron out???????????

Yeah doesnt he realize the city generates a nice amount of money from the freaking nightlife.
Trains, cabs, stores. All this revenue a portion of it goes to the city to run

I think there is another part of that law- but I forget.. not necessarily that all bars have to close at 1-..
but I think Bloomberg is doing a great job.. especially since he has gotten the city into GREAT economic shape considering the mess we were in after 9/11

WOW!!! I work in the bar industry and this is the first that I have heard about this proposal. I want to string Bloomberg up by his tiny ba$$s and allow everyone in the city who has been affected by his insanity wack him with cartons of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol.

Yes, cigs are bad but, so are alot of things in life. They tried making alcohol illegal and look what happened. I think that trying to provide resturant and bar employees and patrons the option of working/hanging in a smoke free environment is fine. However, I also think that this could have been acheived by selling smoking licenses. Offering establishments to either choose to be a smoking one or a non-smoking one while also creating revenue for the city. JMHO.

You know if you told me this when I was 21 years old I'd probably form some type of march on city hall.
But now, really I don't think its such a bad thing to send everyone home before sunrise. Maybe 2am would be a nice compromise.
I heard that some establishments may be able to apply for a special permit to remain open later.

Honestly I don't smoke never have same with my FH and most of my friends. BUT you goto a bar and you expect that. Come on...... I think that is the dumbest law I have ever heard and it doesnt even affect me. Bloomberg is a MORON!

I'd be surprised it that actually went into effect, although with all the smokers outside making noise I don't necessarily blame the neighbors....but shouldn't someone have thought of that BEFORE they changed the smoking law

I think along with this law you'll be able to stay open later only with a special permit...therefore you have to PAY extra to stay open late. And that's how BloomBUG is making his money!

he isn't making himself money- he is trying to get NYC out of financial ruin- the financial ruin we got in after 9/11 ESPECIALLY since the fed hasn't given us the $$$ promised ot us- you can't have your cake & eat it too- the City is a business- and you need to make sure the finances are in order..
