The 'CITY' is trying to make it a law that bars & clubs have to close at 1:00am!!! It's the complaint about noise polution in the late hours. Well DUHHHHHHHHH.........When the jackass (oops I mean our Mayor) makes all the smokers go outside to smoke what does he expect???? How much longer before we can boot this moron out???????????

I know what he's trying to do but I am just starting to feel beaten down. It seems like everytime I turn around there's another hand in my pocket and a loss of some service somewhere.
In the grand scheme of things will bars closing early really affect me, no. But it will affect all those people that work in them.
I know several people in the bar industry and they ALL say there's been a huge drop in business with the smoking ban and that their incomes have dropped significantly. Some of them are non-smokers and say take back that law. A law like closing earlier may cost them their jobs.
How does making more people jobless raise money for the city?

I agree Christine . Sassy let me know how this will help the economy more lost jobs business closing's I don't know call me stupid but I just don't see it ! Bloomberg could give to craps about it when he leaves this position oe is not re-elected He goes back to his cushy millions, this is just a power thing for that !%@&.

I'm not a fan of Bloomberg, but I love the smoking ban. I'm sorry to all the smokers that it affects but I really think it's a good thing. And although revenues have dropped, they will go up in time. I did a research project on this for one of my classes and I found that when other industries, such as airlines, were forced to become smoke free the revenues were down for the first three years but picked up over time and actually became higher then before. I feel that the same will happen with bars.
As far as closing at 1, that's too early. Maybe 2 would be better. But I have to say I like that NYC is open till 4. I hope they don't change it.
