Hey girls!! As you may or may not remember a week ago, I posted a message about FH's aunt asking us to RESCHEDULE OUR WEDDING b/c her son is GRADUATING highschool on the same day!!! Well, if that isn't bad enough.... here's the update......
FH's aunt emailed FMIL and 'went off' on her saying that she's mad at FMIL and FH because they won't RESCHEDULE our wedding!!! Is she serious???? I'm at a lose for words!!! I am waiting for FMIL to forward the email to me, and I will update you all as to what exactly was said.... Unreal!

Michael because he is a teacher... and he has to coach in August and East Wind is not available any other time that is 'convenient' for them..... Frankies graduation is Sat. 9 a.m. I should then go run from the graduation around noon home to shower and get ready to run to the church in Smithtown around 2 p.m. go to the reception in the evening??? .... Frankie already told me he doesn't want to have his graduation party the weekend before....I'm disgusted REALLY!!! I made Dawn cry (sorry for that)...it's not directed at her.....it's directed at you and everyone else for not thinking...Michael included....we
now have to accommodate everyone else and you want me to share in their joy when you just messed up Frankie's moment???
i'm not happy, sorry to say....and i think it's selfish on your part and Michael's to think that everyone should accommodate you now......So....no one thinks they should call Frankie and say 'gee frankie....we
weren't thinking....we really sorry we didn't really think this through.....' Too Much......you just think we're supposed to go cheerfully through this like it's no big deal....it is a big deal Linda!!!'

ETA: (I have the Mother in Law from hell, just so you know- a woman who wanted everyone to be surprised when SHE walked down the aisle in a white gown with train on OUR wedding day, and refered to herself as 'queen for a day').

About the graduation day...someone should ask her what day of her life she remembers more....her HS graduation or her wedding day!!! I hardly remember my graduation day. I think preparing for that day consisted of waking up, showering and putting my cap and gown on (of course, with appropriate attire underneath...I wasn't one of 'those' kind of grads). That's it!

Also, wouldn't 'lil' Frankie want to celebrate with his friends as well? If it's the day of his graduation, all of his buddies are going to probably be celebrating with their families. So, it's better for him to have the party a different day so his friends can make it. At that time of my life, I liked partying more with my friends than with my parents!

Well, I'm not a bride, but I'm taking part in the wedding planning process too (as the groom - duh)... So I hope no one minds me posting here.

Anyways, it sounds like if this person isn't crazy, then she may percieve that you did this intentionally. Is she at odds with the members of her family? If so, she could percieve this as intentional.

Did you set the date BEFORE she knew hers? I'm not sure whether you planned 1 month in advance or two years. Because, if you she told you of the graduation date before you booked your wedding... I would see how some people might get annoyed, although making a big fuss out of it would still be rather idiotic.

If she is a close family member of the groom, she would be bound to go to the graduation of her son first and foremost... This would create a dilemma for her because she would want to see the wedding as well. Of course, there is no reason for her to blame you.. It's just an unpalatable situation to be in. Some people handle this with agression to others, which although it isn't right, I can see it happening.

Of course if you've had this planned before you even knew of the graduation or before she knew about it... I'd be like, 'What the f* are you talking about lady??? Don't go if you don't want to!'.

Oh, I'm having trouble with the acronyms FH and FMIL. What do they mean?

Thanks for all your posts and support for Dawn and Mike. I am appalled by my sister's actions and frankly do not want to have any more contact with her. I dont care if I ever see her again. She is rude and hurtful and being totally nuts about this.Unfortunately the damage she has done cannot be reversed. Asmy daughter Amy says she is jealous and always has been of my life. I have a great husband of 31 yrs, 3 great kids --soon to be four, right Dawn!!!!!She is div and I wont even go into the kids!! Soorry for intruding on your board girls but I just had to write!

i'm sorry but you've been a member since 4/05 and i'm sure you booked your venue around that time - what are you psychic? like you really knew that poor frankie was going to gradaute that morning! you can't accomodate every single guests schedule and 'special events' - frankie doesnt want the party (probably a simple backyard party) the week before but you should change your wedding with umpteen vendors to reschedule IF they can accomodate a new date???

OK...not for nothing, but since when do you have to have a graduation party on the day of graduation. And since when does it take 2 hrs to get ready and got to St. James. Your Aunt needs to get a grip and realize that she is going to have one busy day out of the whole year and get over it.
