Good question. I really need to know too.
Re: Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??
We had ours carry fake rings on the ring pillow.
Re: Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??
i'd say no. give him the pillow with the fake rings, he won't know the difference and he'll still feel important.

I hope they do say this in precana b/c FH is set on having him carry our rings. He's older, but still it worries me.

Ring pillow with fake rings...there would be no way on this earth that I would let a child hold onto my wedding rings.

Re: Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??
I'm having our 3 year-old ring bearer carry the ring pillow with the ring I wear on my right hand (my grandmother's wedding ring) and my FH's claddagh ring.
Re: Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??
No!!! they carry the pillow with or without fake rings- it doesnt matter, the best man holds the rings! if you are getting married in the church, at the rehearsal they will ask you if he is going to have the rings and they suggest not to , and to make him still feel important he will still be called up to the altar with the bestman to give the rings. our ringbearer was 7.

You know what, they get tied on either way. If you think about it, the ring bearer is going from one end of the aisle to the other, with all eyes on him. It's highly unlikely that, once properly secured, he's going to lose them off of the pillow. Although, I probably wouldn't do it for a boy so young (just in case he freaks out at the last minute and refuses to go down) I don't think I'd have a problem tying the rings onto the pillow for the best man to take off when the ring bearer arrives at the alter. On the other hand, I think it is a smoother trasition to have the best man carry the rings from the get go.
Re: Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??
best man should hold the rings
Re: Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??
My ring bearer never made it down the aisle..
Re: Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??
Even though it would seem that a child would not lose rings tied to a pillow our priest said that there was an experience where the child had the rings on the pillow and he got nervous & started twilling the pillow around and 1 of the rings went flying so he said that under no circumstances shoudl the REAL rings be on the pillow just saves times later one & the best man should have them.

We had fake rings on the RB's pillow. The best man held the rings!
