Young RingBearer - Does he really carry the rings??

need advice from girls who had or are planning to have a young ringbearer -

my ringbearer is 2 and a half. i am planning to have him walk down the aisle with the flower girl, and most likely be picked up by their mom at the end because i don't think they can stand so long for the ceremony.

so would he really be carrying the ring?
if yes, does he give them to the bestman?
if no, does he just walk down without a pillow or anything??

I would definitely be a little nervous that he would start playing with them...kids get so easily taken by the simple things-and if you stare at your ring and wiggle it around to see it sparkle-what makes him prone to doing it?

I would go with tying the fake ones on

I've never seen a ringbearer carry the actual rings; the Best Man always has them. You can't even count on a ringbearer making it down the aisle (unless he's confident and older).

no way!!! LOL

My two cousin were the ring bearer and flower girl. When it came time for rings there was none! They had to use one from a guest! My cousin had given it to his little sister.

Something to remember and cute, but if I was the bride Id have a heart attack. Its not worth risking IMO.

Ring pillow with fake rings...there would be no way on this earth that I would let a child hold onto my wedding rings.

thats what we are doing. our ring bearer is 4. just to be one the safe side. this way he can keep the pillow as a keepsake.

We had our priest tell us that they had told a couple not to give the RB their rings to carry as they sometimes get lost, and children get bored easily and then the pillow is something to play with.

The couple didn't listen and tied their rings to the pillow, and when it came time for the rings, the priest had to walk into the sacristy to get a scissor - the child got bored and tied many tight knots to hold the rings in place.

We had our RB carry fake rings tied onto the pillow. We also still have the pillow, it sits on our bed after it's made.
