Your dresses

How far in advance have you ladies looked for your wedding dresses? My wedding is in November 2007 and I was thinking of starting to look next month. Is that too far in advance? I really have no clue when it comes to this wedding planning so I need all the help I can get from you girls.

I ordered mine September 05, I'm getting married September 06 and my dress came in about three weeks ago.

My wedding is next April and I just ordered my dress.. they said it should come in about January 2007

i ordered my dress in January for my july 2007 wedding. It came in in May - lost weight didnt fit and re ordered another dress and that is coming in august! hth! i dont think youre too early go and check out whats out there!

A few places told me that dresses take up to 8 months to come in so i would start shopping as soon as possible!!!

i actually know the owner of Kleinfelds and it really doesnt take that long to get a dress...he said they can get it for you in like 3 months...itmay differ from place to place....i havent ordered mine yet because i love the whole trying on dresses process and once i find it i wont be able to try on different dresses anymore..but you want to save yourself time and make sure they order it correctly and the right size and color.. i have heard some bridal horror stories

then i would order it earlier...you also want to make sure you leave enough room for fittings and alterations...you also dont want to order it too early because some places wont let you store if at their salon or may charge you a fee..

since your getting married in Nov 2007 I would say order the dress around January 2007 the latest...

i ordered my dress about two weeks ago (end of april 06) my wedding is july 07. so about 14 months before.

I started looking in July 2005 and ordered in Sept 05. If you find something you truly LOVE then order it. You do have plenty of time

it was either modern bride or bridal guide...those are the two i just got this week.

I'm getting married October 07, and I ordered my dress a month or so ago.

Unless you're the type of person who tends to be fickle and change her mind easily, you can go ahead and go shopping whenever you want. I found 'the one,' and knew that was it, so I ordered it. Once I like something, I usually stick with it, so I wasn't worried that it would be a problem.

I started looking in Dec. 2004 for my Jan. 2006 wedding. I ordered my dress at the end of April 2005 and it came in exactly 5 months later in Sept. 2005.
