The only thing I ever told my FH was that I wanted a round stone...He went out shopping with his brother & was so picky! Finally he decided to custom make my ring...I honestly could not have picked a better ring if I did it myself! He went above & beyond!!! Hence that is why my wedding band needs to be custom made!!
DH went and picked out the stone he wanted and then he worked with the jeweler on designing the kind of setting he wanted. I did not have a say in it.

Re: Your e-ring
My engagement wasnt a suprise at all. While on vacation, after we had been taking about getting married for awhile, I said lets get engaged. So, we bought a little ring and presto we were engaged. Then, I picked a ring I wanted and a friend of the family made it for us. Thats why I love reading about suprise romantic proposals! But thats not my man at all!

Re: Your e-ring
We went shopping together, and I picked the one I wanted but he wanted to surprise me so he bought it on his own. He ordered the ring I picked, it was a Ritani bead set diamond eternity band with 2 side diamonds and a center diamond, but the desinger decided since he made the setting for a 1.5 carat center stone & my FH picked a 1 carat center stone, he didn't like the way it looked, so he used larger diamonds for the band and eliminated the side stones... but he never told my FH, so my FH went to pick up the ring and it wasn't what he ordered. My FH was really worried I wouldn't like it but I love it!
DH went all on his own, I had no idea he was even shopping for one. It really is the perfect ring for me, exactly what I would have picked out for myself had I had any say in the matter!

Re: Your e-ring
I told him I wanted a princess (or emerald) cut 3 stone ring. He knew I didn't want a round stone or a solitaire. The rest was up to him.

Re: Your e-ring
This is my great grandmothers diamond, so we needed to get it re-set. We both designed it together and he had it custom made based upon what I said I wanted. It came out better than I could have imagined.
He had a friend of his (a girl) try to find out for me. She asked randomly, way before we got engaged. I told my FH this the night she asked and he's like wow, really, I never asked her to find out (and he seemed believable). I told him what I wanted.
He brought her shopping 4 mos later and remembered that conversation that I wanted a round solitare in a platinum setting. She said he did most of the choosing of the setting and everything, she was there for moral support.

Re: Your e-ring
I showed him a pic (although he didn't get it off ebay )
I think it's awesome that you girls love your e-rings so much - I fell in love with a completely different ring but my FI doesn't take hints very well. Here's my e-ring - it's pretty but not what I had my heart set on:
I went and picked the exact ring that I wanted and the exact diamond to go in it. I couldn't let fh pick all on his own, if I didn't like it I'd be stuck with it forever. have to work on taking a picture

Re: Your e-ring
FH called me and asked what kind of diamond cut I liked, lol then when I said Princess he said No!! He said that he thought Round was better for me.
Meanwhile my cousin (and BM) got engaged and her FI used her mother's e-ring to give her. So my mom was telling us this and my soon-to-be FH asked how a guy goes about doing that, he's like 'what do you say, 'do you have a ring for me to give her?' And we all just laughed. Later that day my mom pulled my soon-to-be FH aside and told him that she DID have a ring for me if he wanted to use it. He had been looking at rings and the one that my mom had was very similar to what he wanted to get me. Plus he didn't really have the $$ and he wanted to get engaged, so he took her up on it. My cousin and I joke that our guys got off easy!!!!
One day he randomly asked what kind of diamond I liked. Wise azz that I am, replied with a very innnocent 'what do you mean'. I don't remember exactly what he said, but my response was along the lines of, well there are diamond earrings, diamond bracelets etc - what do you mean?? When he finally asked the question, I told him solitaire, platinum setting.
A few months later (he had already proposed, but I didn't have a ring) we got caught in a rain storm in Baltimore, and ran into Barnes and Noble to hang while the rain subsised. I picked up a bridal magazine, and happened across the most gorgeous setting I ever saw. I showed it to him, and a few more months went by, and then I had it.
