i had one but i traded it in and had to pay about 2000 dollars more for this one...but he got it for me and i loveeee it! 2 karats

here is my band and engagment and his band that matches mine!

This is my ring. It's just like Paris Hilton's!! At first I thought 24 karats was a bit much, but I just LOVEEEE it sooooo much!!

ONLY 24 karats??? geez...he couldve done alittle better than that

I know that's what I thought!! But then again, we did just buy this house. I know it's a humble start but we're hoping to save up for something bigger and better in a few years.

Oh hun...i hope that place has enough garages for all your cars and the yatch that FH is buying you. I guess it'll have to do for now tho

ETA: I just realized we both spell our names the same way

It will do for now, but once we grow out of it, we're going to find something bigger!!

Names = GREAT MINDS BABY, GREAT MINDS!!!

I was joking. Lighten up.

Trust me, as a former bride, if you remember to keep your sense of humor throughout your planning, you will enjoy it a whole lot more.

Just some friendly advice.

Sorry Leslie, we're just playing.
But just FYI, on these boards we generally dont share karat size or prices when it comes to things like e-rings...it just sounds like bragging and it tends to hurt or bother others.

i dont see how it would hurt someones feelings, the ring is something out of love by the man you love..its not a contest. and besides i had no intent of bragging, just excited thats all. sorry if i came off as snobbish or arrogant.

Dont worry about it. You just never know what kind of things can hurt other brides on here -- and trust me when I say other brides have gotten hurt in the past when it comes to rings. And youre right, a ring is something special that the FH gets you and it has special meaning....thats pretty much why we DONT talk about size and cost -- its a symbol of love, so size and cost dont matter and dont need to be mentionned. In general, unless someone specifically asks, we tend to stay away from talking money on here. Every bride's budget is different. What one can afford easily might be another bride's yearly salary. The size of one bride's ring might be half the size of another's.... many of us have learned from past experiences that its just better to avoid discussing it so that no one gets offended.

No ones feelings were hurt (I think). I just made light of what you said in regards to ring size. It can be a sensitive topic for some. For the most part no one brings up karat size unless asked and that usually happens via FM. Going down the 'size' route can be a sensitive topic for some so I kept it light.

Don't sweat the small stuff...No pun intended!

ETA - I know you girls were just joking... but I don't think too many people would have actually been offended by that post (or thought too much about it) if so much attention hadn't been given to it. Plus, you offended me. My ring may only be 24 carats, but at least it's perfect cut, color, and clarity.

Re: your engagement ring..

I have to agree with Kara. Personally, i feel people are way too pc about money here. Who the heck CARES! Yes, the girl's comment about her ring might have bene taken as bragging. But does anyone really give a rats tush? So it's big. Applause for her. Thats what she and her FH consider important to them and thats a personal choice. If they're happy, so be it. If you don't like it, ignore her. Most of us here seem to prefer to spend money on other things but there are PLENTY of brides on here who I have seen post pictures of rings or centerpieces or whatever and though they do not post the pricetag, we all KNOW its expensive because they do drop the designer name, etc.

Frankly, my budget is probably so far under most people here, its obcene, but its mostly because we don't have money. if I had more disposable income, we'd be having a romantic garden affair somewhere in Savannah heh because I swaer I was Southern in another life.

I know these are boards mostly for girls in L.I and we know its not a cheap place to live. I see some of what people spend on invites alone and my eyes get round. But these are all personal choices-not bad or good. Just what they consider a priority. No need to be mean for the sake of it.The jokes when made offline to your friends in convo or whatever might be sen as funny but when posted here, end up coming across as petty jealousy, or that you have too much time on your hands to post a one line 'mean girls' (movie) comment.

I have less of an issue with women like her, than I do withbrides who refuse to share at least ballpark figures, ESPECIALLY when doing DIY. Like pocketfolds. There are some amazing ones on here, but honestly, if you are a bride ona budget and just starting out, you wont have any idea how expensive things are and could use ballpark figures. It makes no sense to fall in love with something and start fantasizing about it, if you cant have it because its out of budget. We all want the dream wedding, but reality does step in and say HELLLO!

So as far as DIY, ladies, we are all here to help one another. We are not secretly sneaking around and saying 'OOOO look at what she spent!' Its more like 'Darnit I LOVE THAT and DARNIT I can't afford it. But now that I DO know what it can cost, maybe I can come up with a cheaper alternative and use orginal as a point of reference.'

Same goes with honeymoons-If someone asks, don't try to gloss over or ignroe the poster as I have seen done here. The point of the boartds is to vent, and share.

-steps off her little soapbox-

This is my ring-looks dingy because the bands are next to it and it hasnt bene polished since i got it haha. But you get the idea-they are going to weld them together for the big day.
