I have NO IDEA how much my ring was and lately after some comments from friends i have been stressing about how much my fiance might have spent! i don't want to ask him but i am wondering...am i in the minority? Do most girls know how much their ring was?

Re: Your engagement ring...do you know...
my ring is my great-grandmother's! I knew the value - i had it appraised. Its from the early 1900's! All he had to do was have it sized for me!

Annieb,
You can't really get a 'quote' for a ring. Each ring is very different, regardless of what the ratings are. You'd have to get a formal appraisal, anyone who'd give you a quote doesn't really know what they're doing! You can only get a quote for what someone else would sell a ring for-every place will be different. It'll give you an idea but you'll still never know.
No offense, but I feel like if someone is wanting to know so you can feel good about how expensive it is.....I don't think that's the point of the ring IMO.
Good luck.

i know! I picked mine out, got a discount cause I use to work there! You can get a general price online if you know cut clarity color.. but that varies also due to other factors...... if your really concerned you should be comfortable enough to ask him

I pretty much know the range, I do not know the exact amount, but I know the range within $2,000.

Re: Your engagement ring...do you know...
I know what is appraised for (its on our ins. policy) and I know approx what he spent. But, I don't care and would never ask. I did almost faint when I saw the insurance policy though!
Jennbaby - We were posting that we almost fainted at the same time!

Re: Your engagement ring...do you know...
I know how much my stone was bc when we went looking the lady at the store had it written on the envelope. I didn't tell FH, I felt bad that I saw it! I have no idea how much the setting was, though-and I don't care! He did good!

Re: Your engagement ring...do you know...
do you have insureance? if you have insurance on it you needed to get an appraisal. the appriasal is usually more than what it costs but you get an idea of what the price range would be.

Do E-Rings appraise more than what was paid for them?

Re: Your engagement ring...do you know...
I know exactly what hubby paid for my e-ring- Nothing! It's a family heirloom that we didn't even have to resize. And because it is a solitaire setting, there was no need to change that. My stone is priceless to me and I am honored to be wearing it. It was appraised and already insured through his parents homeowners insurance (they owned it before me) before he gave it to me when he proposed, so I really have no clue. Nor do I care to find out!
