Right now FH and I will be living in an apt for atleast 2 years after the wedding. We want to save enough money to put a down payment on a house as well as having extra $ left over for emergencies or any fixing the house needs!

We both want to live in Sufflok though. And I am hoping that can come true because FH took the Suffolk Police Exam and has a really good chance! But we are staying in Suffolk regardless. My parents live in Babylon and their house is going for $700k and it is an old house (not apperance wise though). And I know Suffolk is not cheap anymore. yea Nassau is a little more expensive but on the real down south shore and the real north shore (on the water) it is expensive!!!!! So I think we might end up in West Islip or maybe even Islip, Patchouge (near FBIL and wife) or somewhere further Suffolk just not too far!!

I think our first house will be a starter house. My mom and I are very handy and we can take something in not so great condition and make it really nice, so that is a plus. Once we fix it up, I'd like to sell it and move into something bigger. We'll see after the wedding what the finances look like.

I think the house we buy after the wedding is the house we will be in for a while. The area that we want we can get a nice house for around $400,000 and I get sick just thinking about it, but what else can ya do if you want to live on the island ya know?

thats not bad actually, where i live in queens or even my old neighborhood astoria especially you can get maybe an apartment for that price...if theres a house for sale for $400,000 it would be gone in a day...the average is around $700,000-800,000

I dont think we'll ever be able to afford anything on LI . We are thinking out west (Vegas, Phx). If FH could have his way, we'd move the day after our wedding. I think we should get an apt. here for a little while, get married and settled then move, but who knows. We haven't even started looking.

dont wait too long if you want to move to vegas...Prices are going up there too and quickly. My aunt bought a house there a few years ago for great prices, when her and my dad went to look again it was a big change in the market, and there wasnt as much free space as there used to be

dont wait too long if you want to move to vegas...Prices are going up there too and quickly. My aunt bought a house there a few years ago for great prices, when her and my dad went to look again it was a big change in the market, and there wasnt as much free space as there used to be

FH's firm acquired another firm in Vegas. He was actually thinking of taking the Vegas bar. Thank God he's leaving!

As quickly as he'd make the money in Vegas, it would go right back into the slots.

Our kids would be eating the comped buffet food mom got while playing the slots.
