Your Groom

Are they eager to plan with you or sit on the tushies thinking everything can get done six months b4 the wedding...

For Example: I am getting married in a yearr and when I ordered the dress, I got...'Why did you go so early for your dress?' I was like HELLLLOOO Dress...detail....ummm what planet are you from!! LOL!!

He wants to come with me to all appointments but at the end of the day, I usually get what I want.

no he understood certain things needed to be done ahead of time...infact at first i was procrastinating and he was the one who kept pushing we have to go look at rh's...i did finally get into full planning mode.

Maybe your FH doesnt understand that many things do need to be done ahead of time. Some dresses take 6-9 months just to come in after you order it and then you also need about 6 weeks before the wedding to do fittings.

Haha, my DH was EXACTLY the same way. I hit the ground running and started planning right away. All I heard from him is 'you are SOOOO far ahead of everyone, why are you doing this now'? Well, because I didnt want to stress at the last minute because I didnt have a makeup artist or flowers or whatever!!! And we were only engaged for a year, so its not like I was starting THAT early.

My FH is definitely a part of everything I'm doing.. Especially with all of the RH drama we had early out.. But he gives me input.. and money.. tee hee!!

There are things that he knows I want something in particular and he'll ask.. 'well does my opinion really matter or are you just being nice??' I'm a brat.. I must admit..

He is eager but hesitant. He feels intimidated and doesn't know what to do. I told him that I didn't either. Just gotta figure it out.

Re: Your Groom

Fh is a big help, but once we get to the vendor he has no say. I keep asking for his opinion, but he is like 'Whatever you want.' I hate making all the decisions by myself!

Re: Your Groom

FH really hasn't taken any initiative with the planning...but if I ask him to help me with something, he will. He came to all the venues, except for the photographer b/c he had to work. It's very rare that you get a groom that wants to dive in head first to plan a wedding, hehe.

My FH brought home flowers for me the other day b/c he wanted to show me how much he appreciated all the hard work I was doing to make our wedding special. :)

FH is happy to tag along and leave everything up to me but he's definitely involved.

Mine cares to an extent...
I mean, he was all for going with me to the photographers, videographers, RHs, and what-nots. We'll be going to the Limos, churches, DJs, and all that together shortly. But, for the flowers, dresses, and the tiny little things, he said I'm fully capable of handeling those with my girls! HA. He doesn't really care for the flowers and all that... but sound is a MUCH... so was the food and all that. LOL.
I can't wait till it all comes togehter!!

Re: Your Groom

I had a groomzilla, but I know that is rare. Hewas travelling for work for most of the planning but would get quite frustrated if decisions were made with out his input, so we did alot of sending pics via camera phone and cramming in appts. when he was in town. Dh was on the planning from e-party to honeymoon.

Re: Your Groom

my FH has worked in the business for a few years to make extra money (DJ company) so he knows a lot about weddings - a lot more than i do/did so he has been pretty into the wedding planning - we've done everything together and he has good ideas - but he has been to hundreds of weddings so he knows what he likes and he knows what he doesnt like so i have to say he has been VERY helpful - whats fun is that we are using LI vendors and he typically works in NJ so at least everything is new for us - although we could have gotten a lot of hook ups in NJ with NJ vendors we rather it be a new experience - i didnt want my FH to feel like he was at work.....

EXACTLY. he didnt get at all why things had to be done so far in advance or so quickly after we got engaged. but we too will be engaged for a year (and a month lol) so we did have to get started on certain things fairly soon. And i know me, and if i did all my research and had my heart set on certain vendors and they werent available because i procrastinated, i'd be upset.

I have to say he is more on top of things than I am! In two weeks from when we got engaged we'd already visited 7 RH's and signed with the Fox Hollow, visited and booked a vendors for photog's and videog's as well as DJ. If it wasnt for him, I might have waited a bit. But I'm glad he wants to be a part of the planning and there for input. I couldnt do it myself!

FH has no idea what it's like to plan ahead. Although for the wedding he seemed to understand the urgency of booking ahead of time. Normally he can't even make a dentist appointment a week in advance!!

I call him super groom!! He totally gets everything and has been with me to all the vendors. Love FH!!

Re: Your Groom

yes mine is that way too. I have vented a lot about that. But I took a suggestion from another bride and started to email him TO DO lists once a week... And he has been pretty good. Ever since I had a meltdown a month ago, he has been willing to do alot more!!! its shocking.

Re: Your Groom

Honestly, I think guys don't know because they don't talk about that stuff with their friends. They probably have never worked that closely with someone planning a wedding, so, chances are, they just haven't been educated about the topic yet. Let them know timeline and expectations, and they will probably understand the process a lot better. My FH was very understanding once I explained everything...in fact, he actually was thankful for me keeping him in the loop and setting expectations for when we are going to do some of the activities. Good luck!
