Your groom-to-be's attitude..

Original post by IrinaBNY

So....

Lately my FH has been a psycho maniac.. and flips out about the smallest and dumbest things. Now, let me give you a small background about him.. HE'S A HIPPY (wannabe lol)..and is very chill, relaxed..passive.. I can go on and on and on..

For the last 2 months.. he has NOT been himself at all.. he yells and flips out like I've never seen before.. which makes me yell and flip out back (hey, I'm from Brooklyn..sleep with your eyes open FH).

So my question is.. Is this normal? Do most FH's act like this before wedding.. and become groomzillas? lol

The reason I'm asking is because my friend, who's getting married before me.. said that her FH is acting EXACTLY the same way.. so I'm thinking that maybe I won't have to stab my FH in his sleep with a pencil eraser.. maybe he's just going thru some wedding related stress?

Thanks

Re: Your groom-to-be's attitude..

you know, this calls for a story and im sorry if this is so friggan long....

a few weeks ago we went to a wedding for a friend of his family, both his brothers and there wives were invited and his one brother was the best man.

i wasnt feeling well, so I told derek he can drink, i'll drive us home. yea, big mistake. 7 long island ice teas and 2 vodka and tonics later......

we get in the car, drive to his parents house to pick up our stuff and drop his one brother off. now, derek's car needs a fuse and i cannot see what gear im in, so when i pulled out, the car was in neutral, so it revved up when i hit the gas. before i can switch down, ...

'*** ARE YOU DRIVE MY CAR LIKE AN A$$HOLE???'

I told him to shut up if he fixed his lights i wouldn't have done that. he then thought i was speeding....no joke....OPENS the car door while im driving and threatens to jump out while im going (meanwhile his seat belt is still on). i told him to shut that door or i'll drop him off at the 4th precinct. he shuts up the whole ride home.

we get home, and im just so agitated and i know hes drunk. he fell outside the apartment in his suit. i walked ahead and called his sister in law because i knew this was gonna get ugly. my blackberry decides it wants to do an update so it canceled my call and derek didn't want to give me his phone to call her back.

he was a drunken mess. i tried not to laugh too because he's cursing and yelling while he has his retainer in (his teeth shift and hes anal about them being straight). i mean, really, im kinda pissed so i do not want to show i think this is funny.

what got me angry was he literally threw my cat out of the bedroom because she jump on him. he didn't chuck her hard, but STILL. That set me off. lead to a night of throwing things at each other. we said mean mean stuff. he called me a college dropout and i made fun of him for having a BA and working a low-class job.

the next morning, he went to work and didn't remember a thing and asked why i was cleaning glass, if the cats broke something. ??????

his sister in laws came over and we talked, apparently his brothers were being mean to there wives as well, so there mother gave them a lip lashing when they all got together that night. it was kinda funny.

all because i had the car in the wrong gear.

Oy vey!!!!

Our last 2 arguments were over :

1) Me not eating anything until 6pm. He decided to FLIP HIS SH&T on me because of that..

and

2) because he said that he said somehting and I said I didn't hear it.. and he FLIPPED HIS SH*T because I 'Dont listen'.

And there you have it Ladies..My psycho future husband!

FH doesn't get mad over ANYTHING which is annoying but he hasn't changed. I think the stress of the wedding and idea of marriage might finally be sinking in to your FH.

LMAOOOOOOO I literally burst out laughing reading this story... sure sounds like something we'd go through!!!

Our last fight was about the HM. All of a sudden we decide to freak about the budget for it and he wants to downsize after we made ALL the plans and did all the reseach and were 2 mins away from giving a deposit to a very wonderful travel agent who's been helping us for 2 months... he flipped on her for no reason... she no longer wants to deal w us... and flipped on me for 'wanting too much'... I'm sorry for wanting a nice HM that we both agreed on ... but now he's just been flipping about $$ issues about EVERYTHING... he is trying to downsize anything he can... you just don't do that to a bride after you've agreed on things! Oh well. I told him my HM will be a nice luxurious vacation w the girls after the wedding and he can sit here and think about what he did wrong :)

i just didn't understand why he had to put his retainer in, then argue. made his slurring much worse.

HM was a pain for a while. he wanted to get an inside cabin. its our friggan honeymoon, get me a porthole or a balcony.

men just dont understand what 'all out' means.

Re: Your groom-to-be's attitude..

I know!

I told him.. your HM is a once in a lifetime vacation (hopefully) ... it's the one time you splurge and not think about anything else... but no god forbid Mr. Budget man goes outside the boundaries...UGH... just talking about this makes me want to run to his job and bash him over the head with a frying pan.

Re: Your groom-to-be's attitude..

hey, you know what, this is what happens when you turn down a destination wedding, i didn't even want to do the 'big' wedding thing. my dad offered to pay for everyone's flights to Vegas. I was SOOO down for that! I still would have worn a wedding gown and all and plan it to be 'nice'.

but nooooooo.

would have saved us tons!!!

that was this past october, I am now glad I'm doing the big wedding thing in a way. lol.

'Mr. Budget Man'. i hope our FH's never meet. LOL.

Re: Your groom-to-be's attitude..

I just explained to FH that he's going thru PMS.. and he was like 'GREAT, FANTASTIC.. Thanks for the deep insight.. did you google that?' LMAO!!!!

Re: Your groom-to-be's attitude..

I REALLYYYYYYYYY wanted destination!!! But we weren't able to do it because his parents wouldn't go... so we decided to do the 'big wedding' thing... if it were up to me... I'd just elope :)

and if you're paying for your wedding, the MONEY!!! that is my FH's biggest issue with me, but whatever. he thinks that 'paying for the wedding' only includes money for the hall. he just doesn't get that there's EVERYTHING ELSE!!!!! so although i haven't given him $ for 2 months towards THE HALL, i still spent it on wedding-related stuff and he doesn't get that. my dress doesn't count, invites don't count.... talk about ANNOYINGGGGG!!!!

Yeah, FH is getting a little edgy - more because his family is driving him crazy at this point rather than anything I'm doing.

Yea, he didn't realize a Veil can cost so much, or a tiara, or shoes. he's like, 'do you have to have that tiara?'.

YES. If it calls to me, it's meant to be!!!! (

the tiara was $200, it had red rhinestones. I bought it has Macy's during a trunk show and I got 30% off, plus an extra $15 for using the card.

I spent $213 for a veil and tiara....most girls would think that's cheap!!!!
