Re: Your new last name
I took his because I'm a teacher and both names start with a P...i didn't want to be known as Mrs. PeePee (even though some of the kids call me that anyway now )

Re: Your new last name
By the time I get married I will have graduated medical school and my diploma will have my current last name and I'm really attached to my last name
We're both in med school and I always tell him there are enough doctors in his family with his last name and not nearly enough dctors with mine! But we'll see...I may end up being a more traditional bride than I expected.
I'm interested in seeing what the other brides have to say about this topic!

Re: Your new last name
I wanted to add his name to my last name, but it will still make things much too complicated. Plus, we both teach at the same school so I wouldn't use it anyway. For now I am not taking his legally.

Re: Your new last name
Reluctantly I am taking his. It means a lot to him and his name is a lot easier than mine. All of a sudden I've been feeling sentimental about losing my last name.

Re: Your new last name
I totally agree both Fh and I are going to be doctors and he has other dr's in his family and I always tell him there are enoguh dr's in his family and none with my last name. It would be nice to keep mine but I won't. It is part of the whole marriage thing to take your husbands last name (just my opinion.) But it is still not easy to just give it up!!

That's funny, I am going the complete opposite of you, from 5 letters to 10

I would be going from 3 to 8. I love only having 3 letters in my last name.

Re: Your new last name
A shorter last name is easier cause it's not as hard to mess up

Re: Your new last name
I'm attached to my last name and hate the thought of giving it up, but I also want his last night. I dont like the whole hyphenating thing. Plus no matter what my kids will have his last name and honestly I want to have the same last name as them, after all they are my new family. I will still have my old family, but this will be one I made with FH, and I think thats totally special and awesome :)

Re: Your new last name
I am taking on FH last name. Although I am quite attached to mine. After a sincere conversation with Fh, he expressed how important it would be to him for me to take on his name. So, once I looked at those big puppy dog eyes, how can I possiblylet him down. I am taking on his name proudly.

I am attached to mine also, but we didn't even have to discuss it. Though I jokingly told him I wouldn't

Re: Your new last name
I am hyphenating my name. I really like my name, and I don't want to lose it. Hyphenating seems like a good compromise.
