Just trying to get a feel for what your regular jean size is vs. the dress size you ordered. I bought my dress of the rack and its a bit snug. Just want to see what normal wiggle room based on your answers!

Im a 12, dress 16.

Gotta love the self-esteem boost by the bridal industry!!

Maybe they're hoping that we will be so bummed about how 'big' we are that we'll dress ourselves up with $500 tiaras and haircombs?

Ok so I am the large 07 girl. I am a 16-18 daily and I got a 20. They have to take it in a little but not to much.

Normally Im a size 2 (a 0 in some clothes, J Crew) and they ordered me a 6. The dress fit perfectly... only needed a hem...

Thank goodness there is a post about this! I was sooooo embarrassed, but now I feel about a million times better. I am normally an 8, dresses a 10 bc of my boobs...and I also had to order an 18! Yikes!

I'm normally a 6/8, depending on the brand. I tried my dress on in a size 10.
It fit everywhere pretty well except a little too small in the boobs and around my ribcage - I could barely breathe!
So they ordered me a 12. Way easier to take it in than let it out!

I was reading all these posts and I'm confused now ... I am normally a 5 and the smallest gown I tried on was a 2 and it was HUGE. Every time I tried on the 2 they had to clip the whole back together. Odd ... hope when I order it isn't too small since everyone seems to order bigger!

i wear a four in street clothes, im pretty sure the dress i ordered was a 10... they said my chest measurement bumped it up...lol...who knew?

it is true they make the dresses these sizes in case you want to take the dress in? Since I know its easier to take away from the dress than to add material

Mines the same. I wer a 16 and b/c of my boobs and my hips they ordered me a 20! I knew the sizing difference going in so it helped a bit!

I wear a size 8 in pants and 10 in jeans. My dress was ordered in 16. The 14 fit me perfect, but the size chart matched me up to a 16. So I would rather have some room to play with and ordered the 16.

Yeah, I made a serious boo boo...I ordered my regular size 8 for a bm dress and it TOTALLY does not fit at all. I'm such an idiot! The woman told me to order a 12 and I INSISTED that I would lose the weight to fit into it. hmmmm...not so much! I don't knwo what I am going to do! I'm going to have to have a panel put into it. FH and I broke into a full out sweat last night trying to get the zipper up! It was kind of funny actually. Let's see how funny I find it when I get the alteration bill!

I'm a 10, but my dress is a 14. I fit into the size 12 sample, but it was a bit snug around the boobs so we ordered a 14 to be safe. I got it and it's too big- I'll have to get it taken in everywhere, but I still feel better having to take it in than getting it and having it be too small.

I hate the way wedding gowns are sized like that- we've got enough things to deal with in wedding planning, do we need to get dresses in sizes much bigger than we are!
