Your Ring.....

Your Ring.....

Ladies this is a personal question:

Please do not be offended I need your advice:

Did anyone get a diamond w/ a lesser clarity for a bigger stone?

If you did are you happy with it?

Is it true an I3 doesn't sparkel?

Please help!

I'm not sure there is such a grading as 'I3'. Not with GIA anyway.

who certified the diamond?

ETA: I1 is very included to the naked eye, so I3 I would imagine would be even more so.

personally i have no idea....
i have seen some in stores at the mall (even little stones) that just dont look right...

but all of the ones i have seen on my friends are decent sized stones and they all sparkle.
but i never asked what the clarity is. i do have one friend that has over a 3.5 carat stone but her ring barely sparkles at all, but i dont know why--- it might be dirty or it may be the shape. i have noticed that round does sparkle more than other shapes... hope this helped a little.

About your friend w/ the 3.5 diamond does it look bad that it doesn't sparkel?

My ring is a heart. Its sparkels but not like a round brilliant does. The shape helps.

yes it looks amazing in my opinion.... the thing is hUGe (it is actually 3.6). everyone and i mean everyone always compliments her on it. the shape of the stone does matter.

basically, that is what it means. it has a lot of inclusions which don't allow the light to reflect off the diamond, hence less sparkle.

here is a good link which explains the clarity of a diamond

a friend of mine told me that you can tell the quality of a diamond if it still sparkles in the dark. Is this true?

OK so just b/c it doesn't sparkel it'll be ok.
People will notice it and not know the clarity?

I think if the diamond is exceptional quality, it would be obvious in any lighting

i know someone who has a nice size damond..but it is very dull...

you cant notice it unless you put i next to another diamond that is better quality....

Re: Your Ring.....

I have a 1.25 carat princess cut
Color is E
Clarity is VVS1

This means it is relatively colorless and almost flawless, BUT it is not a huge rock!

I know people who spent the same amount of money that my FI spent and have a ring almost double the size of mine, but when they're next to each other, mine looks super white and sparkly! However, I don't get the 'oh my gawd, oh my gawds' that they get from other people. I think YOU need to decide what would make you happiest - I personally like knowing that my ring may not be the biggest, but it is a really special stone - and ultimately, they're all special if the one you love gave it to you. Hope that helps.

I chose a smaller stone w/ great quality

Re: Your Ring.....

The reason the larger diamonds dont sparkle as much is they are cut with the same amount of facets as a smaller cut diamond, so the facets are larger.
The larger the diamond and the more inclusions the easier it is too see the imperfections-but-how often does someone look at your ring that closely?
My ring isnt 3 carats...its a little bigger then 1 and it sparkles like crazy no matter how dirty it is.
But-I know some jewelers will grade it all different levels, I3 is off the chart and would mean heavily included
