backyard wedding

Hello fellow brides! I live on eastern long island and would really like to rent a house on the water and have a small backyard wedding...house rentals are very common out here but anyone know where I can find one that would allow for party rental??

Re: backyard wedding

i'm not sure ... but just keep in mind that having a wedding at a house can be even more expensive than at a hall (you need to rent chairs / tables / plates / etc, hire all the employees, find and hire a valet parker or two, hire the caterer, get insurance for everything, etc).

Re: backyard wedding

okay before too many people try to talk me out of it lets say I'm not going to stress cost of backyard vs. hall. It's more a personal preference, I want an outdoor wedding with a tent. Anyone ever been to Brechnock Hall in Greenport?? I'm open to places that do outdoor weddings just trying to get ideas please!!

Re: backyard wedding

Try hamptons locations. They rent out houses for movies and weddings out east on both forks. I was looking into doing this myself.

Are you open to Shelter Island?

If so, one of my best friends had a gorgeous tent wedding last summer....

Re: backyard wedding

im having my wedding at home... Its only more expensive if you REALLY go all out.... If you need help lmk... What i would do is look at houses on craigs list for rent, and then just call them and see if they do weekend rentals... ask them if theyd let you have your wedding there!

Re: backyard wedding

I live on the east end as well and really looked into this. A good friend is getting married at brecknock hall in august next year. As far as house rentals go you do need insurance to cover everything in case someone gets hurt
Some other ideas are:
Driftwood farm in orient
Founders landing in southold
Dreamers cove in jamesport
There are a few places that do tented weddings on shelter island

Check out www.northforkweddings.com
Also lists some places for rent
Another suggestion would be to call a catering company and see where they recommend a good one to call ia christoper michael from jamesport country kitchen

What about somewhere on fire island? I think that would be awesome. The snapper inn in oakdale also does weddins outside in their pavilion like thing (can't find the word im looking for) right on the water its pretty nice. The view is right there also which is another nice place.

Re: backyard wedding

Yes, I know of 2 locations that are available for rent for weddings. The first is www.westhamptonmanor.com and the second is www.vrbo.com listing number 185356, which is where I got married.

Re: backyard wedding

There's Founder's Landing in Southold. Its not super fancy or anything, but its on the water. I believe you have to be a resident of Southold Town to reserve this and its about $500 for the day. There are indoor bathrooms.

I think Peconic Bay vineyard has a house on the water that they rent out but you do need to supply porter potties, and for the summer I think it was almost $10k.

If its a small wedding and you want to have it on the north fork maybe check out Jedidah Hawkins Inn, its a pretty B&B that also does weddings.

If you do it on the North Fork check out Jamesport Country Inn for catering I hear they do a good job.

Re: backyard wedding

Thanks for the input ladies! I have a couple of appointments to check out places.

I also looked into Vineyards Bedell Cellars 10K-15k site fee eek!! I absolutely love fire island and that is definitely an option, never really been to shelter island so not familiar just know you have to ferry out there.

I have a lot of research to do thanks again for the help!!

FYI if you are thinking Fire Island you really need to research it. I wanted around 100 people there-house on the beach- with a tent. The real estate agents laughed in my face bc no house can handle the amount of people. Even if you want a restuarant there, you need to keep it small.
